My guess is that if you register they send you promotional emails to notifiy you when sales are occuring. I don't know if sales on items are a thing but I'm waiting for the next Free Shipping sale, since shipping costs are stupidly high here.

Truth to be told, I agree. By now I know what I want to build so I'm less interested in builds and more interested in new parts/recolours. CCBS still has many "recolour slots" to fill, some of which are rather prominent (eg to this day, we still don't have CCBS fists in gold or titanium metallic!), and perhaps new colours to explore too (pink, lavender, and pastel colors in general).
-
Not exactly custom, but has anyone tried remaking CCBS shells for 3D printing? I know it's an odd question, but I couldn't help wondering when I saw this. Scroll down and you'll see that Shapeways' purple is a near perfect match with old discontinued purple (Onepu's mask), which is quite a bit different from modern dark lilac (Voltix, Joker, 2015 Onua). Having shells in an otherwise impossible colour would be pretty amazing.

[RUMOR] Bionicle might be returning in 2019
Shakar replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I assumed they sold badly? That's what I heard. I didn't necessarily hate them, but I don't think they were a financial success or we would've seen more of them. -

Shakar replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
How do you replace a System theme with a Constraction theme? You can argue they could turn Bionicle into a System theme (NoGodPleaseNo.webm), but the playsets released during 2005-2007 were proven flops. -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Hello everyone. Some mixed thoughts since I haven't been posting here forever: -SW Constraction's end would be a pretty heavy blow. While the quality of the sets had been declining sharply (especially from the Rogue One wave onwards), the sets would always provide some pretty good recolours, and some very good molds as well (I really should get my hands on those sweet blades from the Elite Praetorian Guard set). My biggest regret is that we never got iconic characters like Yoda, C3PO and more droids, more droids, more droids. I still want those gold hands, though I'm sure they would've came up with an excuse to not make them. -I've checked the inventories for the new sets. So Boba has a sand green 3M shell. That's not much, but better than nothing. And a dark red 4M shell, huh? Subarashii! -Darn, the new Vader is TALL. I doubt I'll buy him, but it's nice to see a proper, fully humanoid CCBS "Titan". Shame about the scarcity of recolours, but still a better set than I initially thought. -I don't care much for Maul and the Stormtrooper, really. Maul's shoulder armour looks pretty cool, though. -Han has lots of new brown pieces, including new shoulder pads, I think. Definitely useful stuff. -

I'm not sure how they expect these to continue to sell. They've started as slightly more expensive than their Bionicle G2 equivalents in size/parts count and now they cost almost twice. -

Oh well, 2 3M shells is better than nothing like we initially thought. Also those small panel pieces are pretty good for armouring. Add these to Llloyd's dragon's feet and a small sand green parts pool is building up. -

I don't particularly care about the set, but DV is 35 Euro? What?! He looks so simplified compared to the 2015 set, yet not only he's not cheaper but more expensive too? There's got to be something hidden to his build that we haven't seen. -
I'm keeping a healthy dose of skepticism, just to not dispappoint myself later on, but provided this is true: It sounds very interesting. Dropping the "groups of 6" scheme feels refreshing, and the return of vehicles and a real Titan set would certainly be welcome. Some on 4chan have pointed out that this is fake because it all feels "Too good to be true" but I'm not sure if I agree: if anything, it sounds like an average modern Lego theme: the right timing (2017 was obviously too early, but 2018? 2 years and half are enough to develop and finalize a new theme) 12 sets, media/apps tie-ins, a group of 4-5 main heroes (Ninjago anyone?), a computer setting (which isn't new to Lego action themes). The only thing that strikes me as odd is the use of masks, but they might as well be Glatorian/HF style helmets. Helmets and masks are more cost effective that full heads anyway, I suppose (not taking into account the obvious playability factor). As for the lack of a theme name, it might be that the anonymous leaker thinks s/he would get into trouble if s/he gave it away. Not necessarily meaning to defendi her/him, just a thought.

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It's true I shouldn't do that. It's that I remember that person who claimed to having seen the sets and seeing sand green shells on Boba and I clung to that. Sure, there are the dragon's feet, but it's not much if you want to build something. Boba might have sand green feet, though the colour of his boots varies a bit depending on the deciption. A quick rundown of the recolours if anyone's interested, though I'm sure there are going to be a lot of inaccuracies due to shadows and lightning: Boba "Keetongu yelloworange" SW round smooh shoulder pads Sand green SW male torso armour, (?) CCBS feet, Jango Fett helmet (well of course) Dark red (?) 4M CCBS shells Dark orange (?) 5M CCBS shell (left arm) New parts: dark tan (?) tattered cape Darth Vader Titanium metallic (?) large tubular shell New parts: new cape (? Though it's probably Kylo Ren's helmet) Darth Maul Too blurry to make it out. But head aside I don't see anything new. Interesting, I undertstimated the set. I'll check it out, thanks. -

I mean, I was hoping they would slip in one sand green shell size, even if it's not very movie-accurate. Boba was the only way we could have sand green CCBS and it's pretty much gone forever now. I'm curious about the torso build, but I really don't care for his parts. Is the set that good in person? -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Well, since the last set I had some hope for, Boba, is a total disappointment in terms of parts, I guess this is it for me. I'll buy pieces off Bricklink if I gather the time to build my MOCs, but looking at these it seems Lego doesn't want my money anymore, so no more sets for me. They've taken the last theme I liked and ran it to the ground twice, and it seems I really don't care for their other lines anymore, so I just need to accept that in terms of new releases constraction is pretty much dead. -

Episode 1 Darth Maul, I guess? I admit I would prefer cyborg!Darth Maul, even though he's far less iconic. He could bring a really interesting built (those legs!) as well as new red/dark red and silver pieces. E1 Maul would be just a Kylo Ren clone, unless they pull something out of left field like a cloth hood and/or a build featuring the Uniter torso (Leewan makes a fair point- could they make a new version of the Uniter Torso that is compatible with the SW torso shell?). -
Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors

Bit of a crazy thought, but hear me out. It seems they're kind of making it a point to give a gear function to characters with melee weapons, even if they don't have a lightsaber, see 2016 Rey and Jyn. Now, the Guard has a melee weapon, but it's held on both hands so a gearbox would make no sense. Chances are high it uses a single piece torso bone, but what if it hides a Uniter torso? It would work perfectly with a staff weapon, like on Pohatu and Gali. I'm likely setting myself up for a disappointment, but it's still fun to think about it. -
Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Oh well. I just hope that before they shut the line down we get Boba (who is pretty much confirmed) and C3PO (because we haven't gotten a new CCBS shell in gold since 2013, if you don't count Tahu Uniter's torso). I would add "another custom build" to my wishlist, but if the new Vader is just a modded Kylo then my hope is pretty much lost. Gotta stay realistic if you don't wanna get heartbroken, mate. At least we still have the Elves dragons, which happen to be a lot more creative than these figures. One of the dragons has 4M spring green shells (which I can't wait to get my hands on) so we might get some outlandish colours in the future. I still unironically keep my fingers crossed for pink, magenta or lilac CCBS shells. Those would be awesome. -
Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The size and the System lightsaber just jumped at me as soon as I saw them. I also hope to get the new armour in more colours, especially gunmetal and silver; though I suppose that would require similar characters to show up in the movies. Sure, but when you take that away they all look pretty much like the same build save from some differences in limb length. Since the TFA wave with all figures you either get the "gearbox build" with the new torso+gearbox+gearbox cover (Kylo, Rey, Jyn, etc) or the "without gearbox build" with that old 9x11 torso bone I had hoped Bionicle G2 would bury forever (all the myriad of Stormtrooper variants, Chirrut, etc). Not a single time have they attemped some custom leg or arm build or tried to reuse the Uniter torso. At least the 2015 figures tried something a bit different like Grievous or DV. Yes, I remember K-2SO, but one out of 12 figures in roughly a year isn't enough. I had hoped we'd get something more varied like the Super Heroes figures, just a bit more refined, but it's just the same stuff every time. It's even more infuriating than the Inika syndrome since everything looks so criminally bland. I wouldn't be so annoyed with these if we still had Bionicle or another non-licensed constraction theme. I thought that, as long as Bionicle just churned out all those custom CCBS/Technic builds, I would've put up with the SW same build syndrome. But now it's all we got for the time being, it's disheartening having to see the same build recycled for the 20th or so time. -

Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Oh great, more cookie-cutter builds. I mean, I shouldn't be surprised, but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed, right? The Pilot and Rey, oh well, hello Death Trooper and Jyn Erso. I spot few interesting parts, which are Rey's robe, a new size of flesh coloured bone (I think), 4M dark brown shells, dark brown SW lower leg shells and a black blank torso shell on the Pilot. Otherwise, not good. Chewbacca..oh boy. I never cared much for the character but I'm pretty sure they could've done better. He looks very basic, which is pretty sad because he could've been our shot at a ""Titan"" CCBS figure. The torso and the lower legs might have some slightly custom builds, but I doubt they're anything of particular note. The printed parts look hilariously simplistic and cartoony. The only interesting pieces seem to be reddish brown 5M shells and Beast feet. I think I could use some of the former, but I'll Bricklink them. That Guard, though. That almost redeems the other 3 sets. Almost. And I'm willing to forgive the build because he/she looks marvelous. I admit I thought the figure was dark red at first, which probably made me more excited than I should've been, but the more I analyzed the parts the more I knew they couldn't make so many recolours for one set. Still, as far as bright red goes it's still a pretty good selection- red 4M shells, at long last! Very interested in the red robe, the new shoulder armour and those new blades (they kind of remind me of Kopaka Phantoka's Blizzard Blade, but somehow cooler looking). Pretty sure I'm gonna get this one on discount. -
Yup. MOCing advice, sharing cool MOCing techniques, etc. I remember that BZP topic had some advice on colour schemes and colour distribution as well. A go-to resource for anything MOCing related. I've been thinking about something like that for quite a while but I wasn't sure if there was enough interest for it.
-
Lack of interest, I fear. Bionicle G2 getting cancelled was a huge blow for many. I agree there should be more MOC discussion, though. I believe there was a topic like this 1-2 years ago. BZP too had a topic on MOCing advice years and years ago, and interestingly it was pinned. It would be cool if we had the same.

G678 (Knights' Kingdom Chess Set) and the Queen's head
Shakar posted a topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Greetings, I hope this is the right section for this topic. So, I'm about to sell G678- Knight's Kingdom Chess Set. I've checked my set because I remember I had fiddled with the minifigs in the past (I know, I know). All pieces and minifigs seem to be in their place, and the things I had to fix I fixed. But there's one thing I can't seem to solve: it's the white (or baby blue ) Queen's head. Both Brickset and Bricklink show her with the head she's pictured in. My Queen, however, has this head. I might have swapped the original one with that one because I needed it, sure. It's rather odd because I don't see myself being that interested in that head, but it's still possible I suppose. The problem is, I don't remember ever having had that head. In fact, when I saw the Queen's Catalog entry my reaction was along the lines of "...huh? That's her head?". I was dumbfounded- I didn't even remember it existing. I've looked for that head everywhere in my collection, but I can't find it at all. I know that some later editions of the set have the Queens' slope skirt glued to their torsos, but no alternate versions of the minifig seem to exist otherwise. So, I'm asking for your help. Is my set a misprint/alternate version or am I just remembering things terribly wrong? I would like to find the head so I can finally ship the set to my buyer, but if that's her correct head I fear I'll be forced to buy it somewhere and make him wait. Thank you in advance. -

Not having Boba at some point would be a huge waste. They're not above copying previous builds *coughStormtrooperscough* so all they have to do is take Jango, change some colours and add his cape (which I think would be really good for "desert scavenger" type characters). The character is super popular and he's guaranteed to sell well. Of course, this has nothing to do with the fact I badly, badly want sand green shells. Nothing at all. -
Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors
Shakar replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Well the 2016 Kylo was a standard figure with the clothing added. Maybe that set is a titan-sized Kylo, a la Darth Vader? Whatever that larger set is, I would like it to be a light saber wielding humanoid just for the sake of finally seeing a larger figure with a gearbox. The only proper "Titan" we got in Bionicle G2 (Umarak the Destroyer) ironically was the only set to use a non working gearbox, which is something I'll never stop thinking of as a missed opportunity. EDIT: Forgot to say, another reason I'd like the large set to be humanoid is because I'm curious to see if they use that awful torso shell nearly every SW now uses or if they came up with something more creative. -
Where does the Copper Akaku come from?
Shakar replied to LEGOshibainu's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Akaku? Kopaka's mask, the one with the big eyepiece? Are you sure it wasn't one of the masks Lordoflego posted? Or maybe you're mixing up copper with the reddish/bronze gold that they used for the 2002 Gold Masks, that colour does confuse a lot of people: The only other possibility is that you've seen a custom fanmade paint job. The Huna and the Komau were the only Masks that were ever released in copper. -
I've never commented on your Rahkshi but I feel I should. I'm blown away by how you managed to update such a peculiar look and construction in a simple and effective way that still feels set-like (unlike the many Rahkshi revamps which I feel try too hard) AND keep both the waist mechanism and the Kraata storage system. I agree the only real problem here is the feet you chose. The small Beast feet just don't fit, at it's not just about the size: the 2003 Rahkshi had large shoe-like feet which looked very odd and alien on such bestial creatures and ended up being part of their distinctive, half organic half robotic, look. What about using the Stars feet? They're available in all colours for all six Rahkshi you made, and they're fairly cheap on Bricklink.
