I'd highly recommend http://www.newelementary.com/

I'm gonna second http://newelementary.com/ - it's not really focused on the opinions on the author, but it has some great insight into the newest parts and pieces that are introduced each year. It showed me a lot of things I'd missed since I was little!

I have to thank you guys for this recommendation. From what I've read so far, it is a great blog!

Brickset.com is a good one to know. They have a database with all the sets and instructions.

Brickpicker.com is another one. While geared toward investing it is a good source for sets going on sale at a variety of places both online and instore. Including more than the usual suspects like amazon, target and walmart.
