I've searched both online and throughout the forum and couldn't find a satisfactory answer.

How do you store your dozens or hundreds of minifig heads so that you can reasonably quickly identify the one you're looking for?

I've sorted mine into rough categories (Angry-looking! Unshaved! Non-human! Freckled!) through columns of individual heads but does anyone have any suggestions on how to store them for easy identification?

I typically place them in bins like this all connected together. I usually don't go looking for heads too often though, so it doesn't bother me.

I think a lot of my heads are on random bodies, so I probably wouldn't be able to find the one I'm looking for anyway.

With that said, where did you find these cardboard bins? they look really useful.

This relates purely to minifigs so should probably be in the Minifig Customisation Workshop.

I store heads much like the OP, i.e. stacked by design and colour, but store them in a Really Useful Box. The only exceptions are heads from the CMF line which I store in their original packets (along with the rest of the CMF).

Very Similar, I also use "Really Useful Boxes" because they are really useful, especially for this sort of thing. What is more than heads they come in all sorts of transparent colours, so I know for example all Mini-Figure parts are in Trans Green Really Useful Boxes. All 1X something plates are in Trans Purple Really Useful Boxes and all 2X + plates are in plain transparent Really Useful Boxes and then differing sizes for differing parts and colours and so on. They just are so useful for knowing what is what in the storage system.

But yes, wandering off for a minute, I do the same with my Mini-figure heads.

I do the exact same thing as the picture in the OP, as well. On a much smaller scale of course, maybe 30 heads or so. Sunglasses with sunglasses, beards with beards/other facial hair, etc. Save much space in the small drawer I keep them in :classic:

If I was selling, I generally keep it with the rest of the minifig in its own bag so I don't have to hunt for 8 parts to sell one minifig. I don't part out new minifigs.

Old minifigs I get that aren't matched to original body parts, I leave it in my part bin as mystery part to play with and not to sell.

They're great. I get them from Viking Direct in the UK but the product may be available elsewhere too: Link

Thanks for all the replies. I'll look into those really useful boxes. With so many new faces, all subtly different, it's becoming hard to make things identifiable at a glance rather than having to sift through.
