-Horizon- Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Hello, this is pretty stupid, but could anyone tell me how to get bricks to connect in MLCAD? I downloaded it a while ago and can't figure out how to get them connected. When I pull bricks form the parts list they just sink into one another and won't connect. I tried the help Icon and got nowhere. If anyone could help me that would help a lot. Thanks, lego3364 Edited April 30, 2014 by lego3364 Quote
Holodoc Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Mmmh, whenever I start MLCad I can connect the bricks. Do you see all of the four 'windows' in the lower right corner? They are named 'Front', 'Top', 'Left' and '3D'. You can only connect the bricks in the first 3 windows, not in the 3D one. Quote

mmcb Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 By the sounds of it you're dragging your bricks into either the Top/Bottom view panes or the 3D view pane. Try dragging them into position in the Left/Right or Front/Back view panes. Unlike LDD, MLCAD does not automatically "connect" bricks together. By default it applies subsequent bricks to the same level as the previous brick (Top/Bottom view panes). In the Left/Right/Front/Back Side views you can move the selected bricks up and down using the +y -y buttons on the Transformation Toolbar or by using the Home, End keys on your keyboard. For good or bad (depending on what you're doing), MLCAD has no restrictions in that you can place bricks anywhere you want. When I first started with MLCad it took a bit of getting used to, but it didn't take long to master. I like using it more than LDD. Quote

Though in my opinion I think it is for bad. Thanks for telling me though. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Mlcad has three different grid settings which you can adjust the amount of degrees/movement that the brick moves. You can find these three settings (coarse, medium, fine) in the tool bar. Edited May 1, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
legolijntje Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Doesn't the topic starter means that the bricks don't snap into place? Like they do in LDD. If you mean that, that isn't available in MLcad. It is available in SR3D Builder, which is also a LDraw based cad software. It's very good, it doesn't has all the options MLcad has to offer (yet), but it's a lot easier to use, especially if you come from LDD. Quote
