Yooha Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hi everyone, I was watching Episode II the other day, and at the scene in the Geonosian droid factory I was thinking how action filled it was, and how great it would be if we could see it in a LEGO set. So I designed it. I tried to make it the LEGO-way, so playability for children was more important then being exactly in the movie. So I compressed the many deadly machines in one long conveyor belt. This is how it looks like: With Anakin, Padmé, a Geonosian warrior, and a droid (it is a droid factory after all). Moving the two tan arms (one is visible here) from left to right you can imitate the movement of the belt. Can you avoid the deadly machines alongside it? Evade the robotic arms that want to catch Anakin! Help the Jedi by pulling the ball, so you can knock down that nasty insect! (Meanwhile, the droid production is still in progress) Can Padmé avoid the cutting metal plates? Quote
Obi-wan Kenobi Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I like it,we really need a Lego Droid Factory. Quote
BEAVeR Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 It looks pretty nice, but it misses something... distinctive. As was the case with the current set of the battle beween Dooku and Yoda, it misses something to really catch the eye. My suggestion would be to add one of those giant buckets. That would add a lot of play value at once. As for play value, maybe it would be fun to have a little mechanism that operates that stamping machine. You already added a pin that you can pull away to let it fall. Maybe you could transform this into a knob you can turn, so that the machine would make a continuous up and down motion. That would really add the factory feel. I really like the base. Some random gears would be nice though. All in all, I still think this is an idea with some potential. I see kids having a lot of fun with this one! Quote
Mr Man Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 My suggestion would be to add one of those giant buckets. That would add a lot of play value at once. I agree. Also think about a couple more droids. most sets have lots of them 'cos they are so cheap, plus it's a factory so three or so on the assembly line would be good. Quote
Eggyslav Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 It Needs C3PO, so you can reenact the hilarious head swap scene..... Quote
Csacsa234 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The suggestions above are great ideas, integrating those into the set could make it a great one indeed. Seeing this it looks strange now why TLG haven't made a set like this. There is agreat deal of play functions that can be made into this set. Quote
Infernum Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Nice idea and MOC! I'd love to have a set like this! Keep up the great work! Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Great MOC! I suggested a droid factory in the Future Star Wars Sets thread, and this is what I'd have it as, only bigger. Much bigger. Are you planning on building it IRL? Quote
OBI-WAN37 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Looks great, I love the prequels, more than the original trilogy even, and this certainly does the scene from the second film justice, great build! :) Quote
Commander Colt Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I like this! Great recreation of an undervalued scene from an undervalued movie. I like the inclusion of the press..maybe there is a way for the press to have a trapdoor of some sort that replaces a fig with a tile... Great job with the color scheme. Quote
donbarca Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) this is cool... perhaps a c3-po and a modified battle droid body, so we could switch their heads:) id like that as play too!!!! Edited January 19, 2014 by donbarca Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Yooha, do you mind if I have a crack at a Geonosian Droid Factory MOC on LDD as well? You have given me some inspiration. Thanks. Quote
