I want to make the disc shaped part thinner so it doesn't look so clunky, then I'll be working on a Klingon bird of prey.

Thanks for looking at my MOC. Comments and constructive criticism welcome. :classic:

Welcome to the forums  I'm also a fellow Star Trek fan. I like the way you've designed the engine part, but as you said, the saucer part should be thinner. What about trying to stack some plates in a disc shape, with different diameters?

I agree with MikroMan, the main section does need to look more saucer-like. Other than that, the rest of it seems pretty good. You might also want to consider using a wider color palette, although the monochrome aspect does not detract from the model. It adds to the style, actually...so never mind, monochrome is good.

Since it's Enterprise, he can hardly do any other colors while staying true to the design... But I'd add some signal lights (1x1 round tiles), maybe trans-blue/red/yellow.

Thank you for the comments  But,

What do you mean by 'signal lights'??

SOrry, I meant stuff like navigation lights on a plane... Google some photos, USS Enterprise show them on the lower part of the saucer, if I remember correclty

I never saw Star Trek honestley ( :look: ). But I remember this ship from pictures and models I saw on conventions and it really looks like the ship I have in mind, so great job!!

Maybe a next step in the developping process would be using only plates to make the 'disc'. But I can understand you if you keep it this way, white plates are really expensive (seriously, that's why I only use dark tan as plates in my buildings lately)

Thanks for the feedback, the reason I didn't use just plates was because I only just had enough to make the top and bottom circle shapes as my parts were limited, I wish i could buy more parts but as you said they are very expensive... :sceptic:

Hey, TNT apples!

Nice first job you did there. Easily recognizable, BUT...

... there is still alot to do on the shape of the saucer part. Just like other members have already stated, it needs to be thinner on the outside and the bottom part is also "round" in contrast to the all flat bottom you mocced.

The lamps are a beginning, now move on to the shape. :classic:

Thx for sharing.

You're definitely on the right track in terms of general shape, but it could use refinement. I totally understand the feeling of being limited by your parts - this is a tough hobby when you're just starting out, as it's expensive. That's why I work in LEGO Digital Designer a lot - you can download it at ldd.lego.com. I would build what you already have in LDD and then try to refine it in the program. Once you're satisfied with the design, you can output a parts list and fill in the missing pieces via BrickLink.

Also, have a look through the LEGO Star Trek Flickr group for some inspiration!

I am not that great of a MOC builder, but I can say this: find photos of the prototype. Right now your ship looks like a cross between the various versions of the NCC-1701, although I see the 2008 reboot ship in the model the most. If you can find some photos of the Enterprise you want to build; you can use it to find details and shapes to add to the model.

I do love the deflector dish on the model, that round bit of trans blue contrasting with the white really draws the eye in. This looks like a promising start to a great model.
