Vindicare Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 While I have no experience with customizing figs, I've heard these two terms thrown around a lot. Waterslide decals & Brasso, those are a customizers best friend, I assume. People use Waterslide to make custom head/torso/leg prints. Brasso, although I'm unsure on how to apply and what amount, but it can remove prints without damaging the plastic. Check out the Minifigure Customs section of the board. Someone with more knowledge will come along and point you in a better direction. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) Hi Jenna, Welcome to customizing. I'm really new to this too but I'll help you where I can. Bricklink.com is the easiest way to get parts for customizing but as Legocrazy81 mentioned Brasso can remove the printing from any piece so you don't have to get blank pieces. For example, I recently killed a C-3PO because I needed a pearl gold torso. Brasso is really cheap and very easy to use but it smells AWFUL so if you're sensitive to that kind of thing, you may want to cover your nose. Find a cloth rag of some sort that you don't mind getting stained, put a spot of Brasso on it about the size of a quarter and firmly rub the print that you want removed on the cloth. Repeat until all of the print is gone. Try looking through the tutorials section here for answers to questions like what kind of paper/decals to use, how to apply decals, etc. Also, there is a book available from twomorrows.com called 'Minifigure Customization: Populate Your World' that is cheap and a fantastic investment for anyone who wants to learn about most any part of customization. It details everything from making decals and cloth accessories to molding your own parts. Edited February 26, 2013 by Str0ngbad Quote
