PenPlays Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I actually found that episode very entertaining! Quote
krystalKING Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 That episode... I don't know where to start, the whole thing was awesome, if at times a little akward, like when Laval woke up, that seemed a little rushed. But for the most part, It was amazing! Deeper and more complex thoughts later. Quote
krystalKING Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Ok, I guess for this I should go in alphabetical order on the characters, and various aspects of the episode. Beavers: Hilarious, add a pinch of cuteness and you have a successful tribe, in fact, I'm betting this tribe will be neutral. Crocs: Improved in an odd way, They seem a little more, I don't know, they seem to have changed somehow. Cragger: He seems to be more like a brother with Crooler, something that extends to both of them. Seems that the plant has a better effect, he only needed one spray for the whole episode. Crooler: Very interesting, not much change, other than being more sister like, and two interesting facts. One, she sounded like Eris when she fell. (Voice actor fail!) and that whip, against Eris... seems similar. Eris: I skipped the Eagle tribe, because they just don't appear, but anyway, more romance with laval (sunset, road trip in general.) This time, she proved she has a couple tricks up her wings, (Board attack, use of technobabble, you do have to fight Eris with your mind, and use of beaver mentality.) Along with actual use of her wings, more than once. Lions: overall, less talk of the rules, and far more interesting. Lagravis: Can still kick butt when needed, and his reaction to his tank, would've been puny compared to my reaction if I had owned the tank. Laval: Almost subjected Eris and himself to death by irony at two separate times. The first would've been death by falling for Eris, and drowning in Chi for himself. Rhinos: I don't really have many words, except that they seem to have ADD, among other things. Wolves: Cannot use Speedorz, at all. On to interesting things. The climatic battle at the dam was actually exciting, maybe I like one-on-one climatic battles, but this put episode two's climax to shame. The pacing was good, and Eris can teleport, When Laval woke up, she literally came out of nowhere, and the pacing was slightly off at the end, enough to be noticeable, but not enough to ruin it. The music was awesome, and that's all I have to say about that. Overall, it seems the writers have responded to our cry, and have upped the ante, they are improving with the animation and the dialogue. I feel that this will take off, and maybe become as popular as Ninjago. EDIT: Three new webisodes have been added: Croc evolution, Lennox the brave, and 'vibe and the mellow head dude.' PenPlays Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 And here I thought Lennox didn't exist. I actually like the character they portrayed him as. It is also particularly nice to see the set features being used so prominently (particularly in Crocodile Evolution. Quote
Lance Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Am I the only one who's a bit tired of the whole "hypnotizing flower" thing? It's a bit like how people thought that Garmadon claiming that he couldn't stop being evil because he was bitten was a bit of a plot device. I'm personally hoping that very soon Laval and Eris will find out about Crooler hypnotizing Cragger, because the flower gimmick does seem a bit cheap in my opinion. Other than that, I thought The Joyride was a great episode, and if we continue to get episodes with this quality, Chima may do very well after all. But yeah, not too keen on the hypnotizing flower thing. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 ^Could not agree more. I hope that Laval does something so bad that it makes Cragger hate him, the lions and their allies without the need for the flower. Quote
Lance Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Or maybe Cragger becomes too strong for the flower and sides with the Lions, while Crooler goes insane and leads the crocs to war? Quote
krystalKING Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The last one, animal instinct, they implemented the action figures, and there is now suffiencent evidence of Cragger possibly being saved, but because of a nescalating war, this probably won't happen till the end of the third year. Quote

If Cragger is still sniffing the Orchid three years into this, there is no hope for the show to have more story. I thinks its safe to say though, that Cragger may eventually become immune to the orchid. That can be good or bad. He could be immune, and cannot turn evil, or he could be immune, but permanently evil because of how much of the orchid he intook. Either way, I still think Crooler is going to have a really big chance to shine. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Three years? You seriously think this will last longer than 2013? Chima's FAILING, TLG has to send out free sets just to get people to notice Chima. Plus, Ninjago's coming baaaaaaaaaaaaack..... Quote
Aanchir Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Three years? You seriously think this will last longer than 2013? Chima's FAILING, TLG has to send out free sets just to get people to notice Chima. Plus, Ninjago's coming baaaaaaaaaaaaack..... I don't think Chima's failing to the extent that it'll be cancelled immediately after 2013. It's certainly not doing as well as expected (or at least the Speedorz aren't), from the indications we've seen, but the theme is definitely very popular with kids and I think there will still be sets next year. However, there'll probably be fewer of them than there were this year. Ninjago coming back will be an interesting piece of the puzzle, since the two themes are very similar and could cannibalize each other's sales. But I think it's a little early to be declaring that Chima is as good as over. The LEGO Group didn't jump into Legends of Chima without doing any market research. They know an audience exists. The real question is, how big is that audience? Certainly it should be big enough to support a smaller-scale theme of four to eight sets, even if a line of forty-some sets was too ambitious right out the door. Quote
PenPlays Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I say that Lego should spend serious time on just a couple new spinners for Ninjago next year instead of 10+ Speedorz. It is clear that Chima is not doing as well as Lego had anticipated, but (as Aanchir stated) that doesn't mean that it is failing. The problem with CHI Battles, is that it is the least interesting looking of all Speedorz sets. Hence the reason why every store that carries Speedorz has plenty in stock, especially S@H, hence the reason why Lego has resorted to ship them for free. Sky Joust may be a bit more different being that it contains two desirable minifigures, but that is just my opinion. Anyway, I thought that the most recent shorts were good. It's nice to see Bladvic again, but the Constraction figures were quite the surprise. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) I saw the Chima volume 1 DVD at JB HI FI and it retails for $12.99. But what baffled me was that I remember someone saying it only had the first two episodes, but when I looked at the back it had all four episodes. Is it different here than it is elsewhere? Odd? -Sci Two things possible. A re-run, which Cartoon Network is doing a heck of a lot of with Ninjago, and IMO, catching re-runs of Ninjago isn't really that entertaining. It could also be them labeling it as Ninjago when its really a Chima episode. They did that quite a bit when the show was just starting. Just the TV guide people's stupidity in that case. Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Ok, I checked Cartoon Network's online schedule and it looks like this: I guess we don't need to wait too long for new episodes. -Sci Edited July 4, 2013 by CM4S Quote
krystalKING Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) My God, what the heck is going on here? I mean, a rerun was to be expected, but we have to wait a week for a new episode? Wow. Edited July 4, 2013 by krystalKING Quote
