DarkKnight7 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi everyone, Here is a pic of the first decal work I ever did on a Lego. My kids are huge "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" fans and really wanted a Willy Wonka to play with for their Legos. This one actually got me interested in customizing Legos...been hooked ever since. For Willy Wonka, I applied custom face, torso, and leg decals (you can see I still wasn't good at decal applying back then...and it still hasn't improved ) The hat has a decal for the ribbon. I also cut a hair piece and super glued it to the top hat. The cut job was pretty amateur to say the least as you can see it is a bit off (off kilter a bit). Hope you all like. As usual, I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. Real one: Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 That's really cute The decal designs are top notch, did you do the designs yourself too? I think you should redo the hat so the hair is straight and then the fig would be pefect. Quote

And I'm thinking of redoing the hair later on...maybe I'll repost a pic if I do it. Quote
Hobbestimus Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Really nice job. You really captured the character. You should use a Count Dooku head on a Lego Monster Fighters Crazy Scientist torso to make his dad. :) Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I love this! Just like your other custom figs I've seen the decal work here is impeccable! And that hat-hair combo looks great! Excellent job! Any chance of you doing the Oompa Loompas? Quote

Too bad I don't have either...would be cool to see someone post that if they had both... I love this! Just like your other custom figs I've seen the decal work here is impeccable! And that hat-hair combo looks great! Excellent job! Any chance of you doing the Oompa Loompas? Funny you say that, my kids said the same thing when I finished with him. I might do one later on down the line. I'll repost here if I do. Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you guys like it! Edited July 25, 2012 by DarkKnight7 Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I feel that it's my obligation to comment on each and every one of your customs, if you keep making them this well! The decals look fantastic, as always. I think you nailed it with this custom. Looks just like Willy Wonka! Quote
slovakiasteph Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Looks great! And has me picturing WW LEGO sets... those would be some wild and colorful builds. Edited July 25, 2012 by slovakiasteph Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 AWESOME custom minifig 'DarkKnight7', better than an all-day-gobstopper ! Perhaps you could try for the Mad Hatter next ? Brick On 'DarkKnight7' ! Quote
Praiter Yed Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Nice one DarkKnight7. Can't believe this is your first custom - it's an excellent likeness for Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka! Well done! Quote
DarkKnight7 Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 Looks great! And has me picturing WW LEGO sets... those would be some wild and colorful builds. Those would be some wild but awesome sets! I too imagine how cool those would be (Especially the first room with the river of chocolate!) AWESOME custom minifig 'DarkKnight7', better than an all-day-gobstopper ! Perhaps you could try for the Mad Hatter next ? Brick On 'DarkKnight7' ! Mad Hatter would be a fun follow up to this...really any Tim Burton or Depp one would be fun to create/see! If I make one, I'll post it Thanks again everyone, your comments are so kind, I appreciate them all! Quote
