zewy623 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 yes, I know everyones probably tired of talking about this or that of rock crawlers, but what if it is the flagship for next year.... does it have to be big with the steep pricetag of $200 US dollars?? or can it be smaller and have rc functions? and ive been looking at lego wheels and the biggest ones ive found are, Wheel Hard Plastic Spoked Giant Thin (160mm D. x 28mm) and what if theres two side by side to make a wheel? whats your ideas on it? DLuders Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Sariel has double Exo Force wheels on his "Lime" RC vehicle. For each revolution of the motor, the wheels can roll over a LOT of territory: Edited November 14, 2011 by DLuders Quote
zewy623 Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 i saw a vid on that or somthin similar to it, and thats what inspired me to start this topic Quote
timslegos Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I can pretty much promise you that Lego will never use those huge tires in a flagship model ever again... tim Quote
zewy623 Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 they used those in a flagship??? Quote
timslegos Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 they used those in a flagship??? Sorry no i dont know if they did or not, i only meant in the future they wouldn't. tim Quote
zewy623 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 why wouldnt they? is it because it would be unrealistic? but i thought lego was about imagination... but maybe not for technic Quote
DLuders Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 On the contrary, the 59521 Exo-Force wheels are useful for Lego Technic creations. On his Facebook page, Sariel will be using them on a huge Lego Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator: "Some of you may still remember the big bucket wheel excavator model that I abandoned 2 years ago (shown here) because I was unable to make it structurally strong enough. Well, I just decided to give it another try, probably in some 3 or 4 months when I'm done with my book. It will be the same machine built differently: with more massive chassis and somewhat smaller superstructure. It will drive on six tracks, each 70 links long, and it will use Hailfire Droid wheels as a ball bearing for the superstructure. The bucket wheel will be built around the big lime Exo-force wheels. The carrier and the superstructure will be probably independent in terms of both remote control and power supply. I have also bought 400 4x2x1 stud bricks that will be used to reinforce the chassis and the masts. The superstructure will house functional conveyor belts and the whole thing will probably weight well over 10 kg." Here is his picture of the old Bucket Wheel Excavator: Quote
