lightningtiger Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 While researching service station and roadhouse design, I saw quite a few early 20th century designs so then I choose to start just scratch building something and then I fitted a 1x4 tile across the top of the door way.....it said Octan - printed tile ! Then I though okay, something not for New Mannum for a change, so now a W-I-P for you all to look at......updates shortly. I still have a bowser to design, plus a shop counter and merchandise (1930's style of course). Comments and suggestions welcome......keep on watching everyone ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That's great, LT. Plenty of interesting detail in such a small package. Very nice. :classic: Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Thanks 'AJ' for your comments. Some quick updates above for you all to look at. K.O.B. everyone ! Edited April 21, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Very nice classic-style gas station LT! I simply love that Octan signage, and pls. excuse my ignorance, that is a gas pump in the updated pics right? Quote

Thanks 'KielDaman' for your comments and yes, that is a petrol bowser....still a little w-i-p itself. Keep on commenting, keep on watching ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Great WIP 'Lt'. Its a very nice start! IMHO it's looking like a '30 gas/service station' that needs a bit of refining with an old, retired petrol pump, for the final touch. Great MOC so far though Quote

Great MOC so far though Thanks for comments 'Leg Godt Gud', oh on the far right side at the front of the base plate yeah, petrol bowser....still a w-i-p. Need to make some old oil cans and a couple of stock cabinets for wiper blades and globes. Keep on watching everyone ! Quote
HeLena Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Nice MOC, lightningtiger! A small service station looks so well-detailed! How big is your city/town? Quote
Jeff Huntington Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I love the sign out front - simple, but it reminds me of a number of now-extinct small US gas stations' signs. The gas pump is another nice design. Really nice work, LT! Quote
Spike Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Very good idea But, maybe isn't the same time, but, why don't you use the 3180 pomp ? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 The gas pump is perfect, and though I could swear I'd seen it somewhere before, the cash register is equally well done. Great work, lightningtiger! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Another cool MOC Tiger! I prefer Shell colors, but I really like this set. The cash calculator, and the gas pump are simply awesome! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Well thank you everyone, this was just a impulse MOC only decided on less than 24 hours ago. Now 'HeLena' thank you, but it's not part of my town.....but will sit on a shelf....gee I'll have to build a vehicle to go with it. My only afterthought is the sign, should the lower section use 2x1 slope 45 bricks with a 2x1 plate as a jumper....to give it more uniform shape or is it fine as it is ? The bowser needs a hose (string) fitted yet, plus a trash can and curbside accessories. Thanks again everyone ! Keep on watching ! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Great job LT! I like a lot. The sign for the station is my personal favorite part. Did you get the gold gun from the Agents line? Nice wip again. Quote

Everyone can make suggestions of what this period service/gas station can have so suggest away ! Brick On Everyone ! Edited April 23, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
Legostein Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Hello! The vintage style you are presenting to us here is great! It's always nice to see the harmonic curves and shapes of that time. I hope we will see some nice cars as well in one of your next updates. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote

I hope we will see some nice cars as well in one of your next updates. Cheers, ~ Christopher Thank you Christopher for your kind comments, hopefully I might try and design an original ute designed by the Ford Motor Company at Geelong Victoria in the early 1930's. Or maybe just a Model T style vehicle.....oh, yeah I might be planning a hardware store with art-deco features on it, but we shall see. I first must finish this one off. Keep those comments and even suggestions comming everyone and Brick On ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Now nothing else so far everyone, but I need a little help.....the car to go out the front of the servo....I'm thinking 1930's Ford....but any other suggestions and also this street is called Art-Deco Street....a hardware store and barbers shop is yet to come (and who knows maybe a speak-easy (hic) )! Keep those suggestions comming ! Quote
