The Mugbearer Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Greetings! In the year 2000 the game development company known as Psygnosis has released a strategy named Metal Fatigue. This game tells us a story about distant future in which mankind reached the stars consisting of three 'CorpoNations': RimTech, MilAgro and Neuropa. The all three of CorpoNations are hunting for ultimate alien technology on the faraway planet Hedoth. The main feature of the game is giant robots - Combots. Player could compose Combots from a different parts (like a torsos, legs and arms), moreover each of Corponations has their own collection of parts. I want to acquaint you with simpliest versions of Combots that I've made in LDD in quite small scale. So, let us begin. RimTech Official documents says that Rimtech is a well-rounded militaristic corponation. They believe in forthright action, backed by a sense of honor. In essence, they are idealists in a less-than-ideal world, and know as well as anyone that money is power. Their interest in the lost alien-robotic technology is just as much deterrence as i is a grab of power. After all, if the righteous and honorable also have potential to obliterate you, who are you to argue with their vision of the galaxy? Rimtech's Combots reflect their practical philosophy: a deadly mix of defensive and offensive weaponry. Rimtech's complete arsenal is rather well-balanced with both electrical and kinetic based systems. Here is official game model for comparison: My Combot is armed with beam blade and force shield. They are the warmongers of the world, and will stop at nothing to secure the obvious power represented of Hedoth technology. As people, they are rowdy and somwhat uncouth. In fact, they love to fight, as a general rule. For Mil-Agro the Combot is a weapon of brute force configured for hand-to-hand meelees with it's arsenal of Hammers, Axes and other blunt objects. Here is official game model for comparison: My MilAgro Combot is armed with big club and shield. Get LXF-file from BrickShelf Neuropa They say that In an open war between those who lust for conquest and those who would hold them at bay, there is the shadow factor. Neuropa is as mysterious as they come. They are patient, secretive, and extremely stealthy as enemies. While Rimtech and Milagro trade propaganda-threats and scream their allegiance to the heavens, Neuropa quietly bids for influence. In away, they are almost more alien than the technology that all three corponations seek to seize, and nowhere is this more evident than in their Combots. Equipped for stealth and reconnaissance, Neuropa Combots utilize an array of advanced parts, suc as an Area Cloaking Torso for invisibility and Sonar Legs for identifying enemies underground. Here is official game model for comparison: My model has electric claw and long shield arm. Get LXF-file from BrickShelf Despite of the fact that each ComBot has been made on the very similar basis, they have essential differences. For example, MilAgro Combot has been assembled after RimTech's but before Neuropa's. It has wider shoulders and bulky legs. And when I has been working on Neuropa's, I has encountered a problem that it needs to look lean in comparison with RimTech's, and old way of shoulder connections and joints hasn't been working so I've been forced to invent something new. C&C are welcome, as usual! Edited April 11, 2011 by -N13OS- Quote
DJ Force Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I loved that game! Used to play it day and night, but I don´t remember the graphics being so cheap *lol* Your combots are cool! It would be awesome if you build them in a slightly bigger scale, so you can add the vehicles and buildings in the same scale, too :) Quote
The Mugbearer Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 I've tried to make RimTech and Neuropa's Combots, but it wasn't good. Thou I made MilAgro ComBot. =) Try to find it in Action Figures forum. Quote
