vexorian Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I got myself into a tragic situation. I bought a Portal of Atlantis 50% off because it was not sealed, and everything indicated the reason it was returned was lack of the second instructions book. Well, I got fooled, because although the bags were sealed and all, I didn't notice that bag 8 was missing (funny story, I thought there were two bags 6 and a bag 7 and that was the end, but it turns out one of the 6 bags was a 9, so it would have been easy for me to notice, but I failed). Anyway, this is of course not TLG's fault, but I guess this is not the first time this happens, so I was considering going to s@t and order the bricks, but that would probably be as expensive as buying a whole Portal of atlantis... I wonder if it is possible to buy the numbered bags separately? Did anyone have an experience trying so? Quote
Modulex Guy Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 You can probably call customer service and tell them you are missing the bag, most likely they will ask for the part #s in the instruction booklet and send you replacement parts. I do not know if they would have the sealed bag, but the parts in it can be had easily through LEGO's missing parts service. Give it a try. Quote
TheWarden Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hmmm... Depends on what you tell them, I would guess. - If you tell them you bought it used, you can't order individual bags. Think of this - the topic came up in the train forum recently that since often the parts to make a car are contained in one bag, people have posed the question here (that got forwarded to LEGO via our ambassador's program) - Why can't we buy extra copies of say... a cargo car - bag 3 in set XXXX? LEGO says no for the time being. Profit, selling difficulties and more explains LEGO. So, no, you can not order specific bags that are in sets. - If you tell them you bought it new, and are missing a bag, you might have a small chance. It's on your conscience though. Missing pieces can be requested via their online web page. Whole bags? I don't know, never done it. I say "small chance" because sets are weighed and a missing bag theoretically would not pass inspection. You can complain to the retailer (depending on the terms that they sold it to you - if it said incomplete / as-is, then you might not get anywhere) that it not complete, and they might help you. Also - shame to you out there that bought your set, opened it, and kept a bag of desirable parts, and returned it for your money. May you step on the sharpest LEGO brick in your bare feet and several more curses I can not name. Quote
MinifigFreak2010 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 unless your not the type to lie, just say it's a sealed box missing the bag. Though b4 you call, i need to give you a couple words of advice: 1) make sure you have a bit of time to wait if you wind up getting on the waiting for a person music playing case. That happened to me a few weeks ago. i was on for at least 20 minutes(mostly waiting) to find out the page count in a lego brick journal and 2) make sure you have the box near by or at least the item number so you can minimize the time your on the line.
