metalgearsolid Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I'm not sure if Lee Jones is the 1st to do it, but it's the 1st I've seen. Yep, all 301 of them: Now he just needs an army of 10,000 persians, a few elephants and a golden god-king to complete the battle scene. Reading his commentary on mocpages shed some light on where the 300 spartans I saw from one seller in Bricklink went to. If you have a mocpage account, do pop by Lee's page and give your encouragement so we can see the persian army soon. (I don't) P.S. Hey Lee, if you are reading this hope you don't mind me posting here! It's just too awe-inspiring not to share. Quote
Etzel Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 This collection have now been shown in 3 topics in less then a week: This one and http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=46093&view=findpost&p=836536 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22604&view=findpost&p=839317 IMO it's enough to have it in the Show your army topic. It's impressive that Lee has managed to collect that many spartans, yes. But how interesting is it? If you've seen one, you've seen all right? Now, if he makes a nice MOC with these spartans I'll be sure to appreciate it more. Quote
Flare Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Nice work Lee... thanks for sharing, Metalgearsolid Quote

So will this thread be merged or locked? This is the 1st time I've seen 300 spartans together so I thought it was quite a sight. Still waiting for someone to show their massive persian army... Quote
prateek Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 This is cool, but not as impressive as I'd imagined. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 This is cool, but not as impressive as I'd imagined. I would rather have them on a landscape or atop of dead bodies. That would be impressive. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 This is cool, but not as impressive as I'd imagined. That is exaclty what I was thinking. I clicked on the link thinking OMG, I'm going to see 300 spartans in one place. Then you see it and your like, huh, there goes $600+ It's cool, but they need to be in an equally impressive MOC. Quote
BlueBard Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) It's great but... can't imagine how many people won't have their own spartan because of these armybuilders Edited October 30, 2010 by BlueBard Quote
Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 It's great but... can't imagine how many people won't have their own spartan because of these armybuilders This right and wrong debate has been going in since they came out. We all have our opinions on the matter, and I've learned life isn't fair. I say power to the collectors, obviously they are putting in the effort and money to get what they want. Quote

I'm sure he must of spent a fortune on these. Probably got it off bricklink. I remembere there was a guy trying to sell 300 spartans for 8 dollars each. Quote
JimBee Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 While it's impressive to see this, I have to rant a little. Does anyone really need that many of the same minifigure? I'd be plenty happy with just one, and I can understand why some MOCers would want 20 or 30, but this is over the top, especially if you hoarded bought them just to take a few pictures and show off. It just seems really pointless to me. And it was probably a lot more than 600 USD for these, because there's a good chance he didn't get them all from the store. Considering they're about 8 USD a pop on BL, that's about 2400 USD, not including shipping. That's a little more than my entire Lego collection. I'm not saying it's wrong, but to me it's ridiculous, especially considering he's not the only one in the world who wants some of these short-supply beauties. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I should reiterate what I meant. Do I think its ridiculous to have 300 Spartans? of course. Do I feel bad for people who want one, and didn't get one? Yes. I bought 12 zombies on bricklink for $6 each, and I feel bad about that. But I feel I deserve them because I paid for them, and even a premium. So bottom Lin, this example is a little crazy, but if he wanted them, good for him, for buying the number he wanted. Quote

Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Yeah, I bet there are still some on Bricklink for 6 or 8 dollars. Oh absolutely. That's something that kind of bugs me, people get upset that someone has so many, yet they have the same opportunity to get the figs at probably the same price as the person who bought them in bulk. I do feel foe the kids whose only chance is in store purchasing. Quote
JimBee Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 So bottom Lin, this example is a little crazy, but if he wanted them, good for him, for buying the number he wanted. Of course, and that's all I was saying. I just can't believe someone would want to spend that much on something like this. I'm not worried that he took them all, by any means. I know that I can buy one for myself whenever I like, and that wasn't my point. Quote

wylun Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) wow.. i just looked at bricklink.. i cant understand how people are selling minifigs at like 8-9 dollars!? thats insane.. you can just go out and buy a new one at a store for like 7 bucks.. if i were to sell my minifigs i'd sell them at atleast 4 bucks to just make the sell lol HOWEVER! that is a cool set of spartans Edited November 1, 2010 by wylun Quote
snefroe Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 well i guess that Lego will just keep on producing them as long as there's a market for them. This is not a "lando Calrisian"-case, Lego has the freedom to produce so many that price will drop to something reasonable. I never understood why they don't approach the market for popular bricks and figs more aggressively, really. Surely they're not happy with a fig like this going to 7-8 euro a fig... or ... i guess that should be a sign to create a Spartan theme oh well... we'll see anyway, i too wonder what you might do with 300 figs, but then there SW-geeks with at least as many troopers... that's just the way it is... Quote
buddy Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 So many Spartans! That must have cost a fortune, at least over £600. This is one amazing army, and the biggest amount of one minifig I've ever seen! ~buddy~ Quote
Captain Becker Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 This was indeed impressive, but also a bit dissapoittning, I would loved to see them in action OR at least some lego made landscape. So ths is not a MOC, just a bunch of Spartan minifigs. But i surely am a bit jelous, wish i could have so much Redcoats Captain Becker Quote
Santhor Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) Oh. My. Sparta. How did he...I thought that four Spartans was pretty good, but this...this is...this...is...SPARTA!!! -Santhor, the 302nd spartan "What?! Only 300?!?!?!" Edited November 5, 2010 by Santhor Quote
BearHeart Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Wow, and I felt bad for hoarding 9 Spartans! I know that a lot of people didn't even get to buy one. Quote
Blackknight112 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 wow, that has cost a lot of money, but then you have an awsome army Quote
BrickArtist Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) haha, hate to think about opening all those and let alone setting them up! (the arms on the collectibles have exceptionally firm sockets) yet a really good MOC with these guys would be awesome. Also its kind of pointless to have that many of the same head on an army, its an army of twins its not quadruplits its uhm.....300its? i guess Edited November 10, 2010 by brickartist Quote
