Paul B Technic Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 I purchased this yesterday and built it last night, here is a video of it in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qalczcuCE9s Paul Quote
DLuders Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 So do you recommend the 8052 model to others? What do you like (or don't like) about it? Is it worth the (equivalent) USD $70 purchase price? Quote
Paul B Technic Posted September 28, 2010 Author Posted September 28, 2010 So do you recommend the 8052 model to others? What do you like (or don't like) about it? Is it worth the (equivalent) USD $70 purchase price? Yes I very much like it and recommend it. It is the first set I have had in almost 20 years with a motor so that is special to me. It works well and lifts a heavy load (Over 500g in that video) Of course it would be good if it has more motors and full remote control but then that would increase the price quite a bit. I have purchased a few sets over the last few months but have sold all of them as I didn't really like them, this one is a keeper to me. Paul Quote
Mortymore Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) Though I haven't one, I was curious about it and couldn't rest until I build one with the parts I had available. I would compare it with 2 other sets that also came with an M motor 8883 and a battery box 8881 and I have: the 8264 Hauler and 8292 Cherry Picker. Despite the Cherry Picker 8292 does not have a linear actuator like the 8264 and 8052, it's for me the most beautiful and the mechanically the most challenging of the 3, being by far the Hauler 8264, the least. The Hauler is overpriced at S@H (at least in Portugal), so it is the least attractive. The Container Truck has a linear actuator that the Cherry Picker doesn't have, and If someone is interested also in the parts that a set comes with, it may well be overall worth more 8052 Container Truck than the 8292 Cherry Picker. After building the 8052, and for the parts, find it very interesting, and if I don't buy it it because I'm targeting the 8043 Excavator. Well... maybe the looks of the Container Truck could be improved if follow the Nathanael (designer of the 8292) suggestion This is my 8052 Container Truck MOD Cumps Edited September 30, 2010 by Mortymore Quote
