wipeoutzone Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 The answer is very simple: it violates the third rule about images in this topic (not read yet? ). You can provide the rendering as an extra using a text link. PS: note that the image as is now is not well cropped. Okay I will fix, but 1. Didn't use CAD 2. Have read guidelines Quote
Calabar Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) @wipeoutzone Supposedly you used PowRay, and you are true, it is not a CAD software, it is used to render files created with CAD other software. I thought the rule was comprehensible (at start, the rule says that the image have to be a simple screenshot), but I will remove the word CAD to avoid further misunderstanding. Thanks for reading the guidelines. I've seen you already replaced the image, but it was not cropped. In the meantime I converted it again in a text link. PS: I'm going to update the index, if you are enough fast to fix your entry, it will be indexed. Edited December 18, 2013 by Calabar Quote
Calabar Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Not sure about what you mean. You have to crop the image removing all blank stripes (both horizontal and vertical) around the subjects. Anyway maybe you can find the answer in the guide I linked you some posts ago (this one). PS: you should crop the image before resizing it, or the final result could be too small. Edited December 18, 2013 by Calabar Quote
kcoon Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Where do I crop it? hi wipeoutzone, what Calabar meant was do not indent your photos with white spaces around it. crop till the smallest possible where your left, right, top and bottom most point has at least a pixel that is not white :) download other summited photos for example.. took bout 30 mins to figure out what that rule was about :P. After you cropped the image, then resize it so that it's not more than 512 pixels on both horizontal and vertical :) Also, i've completed work on my 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer , lacking only mini figures and it's already 10am and i'm late for work >.< i will add in the mini figures tonite and post it up !! :D Quote
Calabar Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) @kcoon Thanks for the help. If the rule about cropping is not clear I can rewrite it. I'm not native English and not ever I realize of this kind of things. About the sets where you added minifigures, provide me an exaustive list (editing the post above). Today I will update the index in the post 3501, so I can index your sets as complete. Edited December 19, 2013 by Calabar Quote

Vee Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Regarding this post, about house 4956, I am thinking about bricklinking it so I downloaded the model to take a look a it, compare things and I ended up liking the mod that Calabar provides along with the original design. But I have some questions: - according to the BOM, Calabar uses 11 1x2 white bricks (that come with the set) plus 19 1x2 white bricks without pin. Is this an error or these "without pin" bricks are necessary instead of the regular bricks? Also, what is the use of a brick "without pin" that a regular brick could not do? - the same happens with 1x4 white bricks: he uses 21 regular bricks and 2 "without pin". - he uses extra 7 flat tile 1x2, engraved (code 59489), for the mod; is this correct? What is this "engraved" thing? And a question not related to this house: what is the difference between flat tiles with groove and without groove? What is this groove for? Thank you. Quote
Calabar Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) @kcoon Ok I'll remove the incomplete tag from all your entries. But... please remove the set you added and post it in a new post. @Vee These are errors. I've to update my sets and I think I'll fix them when I'll do that. About the engraved tiles, maybe I used the first suitable tiles I found! Tiles with groove has a little step on the bottom part. Edited December 19, 2013 by Calabar Quote
Vee Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 OK, thanks for the explanations. I was looking into your MOD and you used a trans-red panel 1x2x3, kind of a rare piece, not expensive, but rare, and so it makes Brickficiency's job tougher. Quote

wipeoutzone Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 hi wipeoutzone, what Calabar meant was do not indent your photos with white spaces around it. crop till the smallest possible where your left, right, top and bottom most point has at least a pixel that is not white :) I understand what you mean now, but that's just impossible! I cropped it, but when I uploaded it to Brickshelf it wouldn't do the cropped version. Is it that big of a deal, because I don't know how to fix it. Quote
Calabar Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) @wipeoutzone Try removing the old (not cropped) image and then upload the new (cropped) one. Otherwise, try changing the filename before uploading. PS: the set is medium-size. When you will replace the image, remember to use an adequate size for it. A 320-384 pixel should be a good width for it. The "trick" is to crop and then resize the image, not vice-versa. Edited December 22, 2013 by Calabar Quote
kcoon Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 @wipeoutzone try changing the file name and reupload :) that worked for me haha Quote

BEAVeR Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Is it allowed to enter a model that has building instructions, but never got released a a set? I'm thinking about models that are displayed in official Lego Idea Books (set 697 for instance). Detailed building instructions are provided in those books, but there never were sets with all those pieces in one box. So is that an appropriate addition to this database? And if it's allowed, under what theme, with which titel should it be credited? Thanks in advance! Edited December 31, 2013 by BEAVeR Quote
Calabar Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) @BEAVeR As you can see in the index, sets like those you are speaking of has been already posted. If the set is official and official building instructions are available, it is allowed in this topic, with few exceptions. The sets in this case will be indexed under the "Idea Book" theme. Anyway it is preferable to build "classic" sets (and not only because these sets requires more work to be indexed! ). Edited December 31, 2013 by Calabar Quote

Calabar Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Hi efferman, and welcome in the LDD Official Set topic. There is something to fix in your entry: Set's data has not been highlighted. The image is not well cropped. You should remove both horizontal and vertical stripes (do that before resizing the image). The set is huge, you can choose to use a bigger image, suggested size from 448 to 512 pixel width. The set appears incomplete, due to the lack of very evident parts. You can try to replace them missing parts alternatives ot brick build solutions. Otherwise the set will be tagged as incomplete. efferman Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 i have Updated the post, the file and the picture. is it now correct? Quote
Calabar Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Much better, thanks. You only forgot to remove vertical blank stripes when you cropped the image. Quote
