One one hand i also highly doubt we'll see a theme like that in the near future since we're just getting a whole new castle theme, but i don't gie hopes up. I just find it odd,t hat they would make new molds for helmets and stuff and new printings, just for one minifig, but make no further sets which they are included in.

Given the collectable nature of this line, I would hazard to guess that a hoplite will set you back considerably more ($10-25 seems more probable). If these guys prove to be one of the rarer figs in series 2, that price could go even higher considering that army builders will want these guys in high numbers. Imagine if the odds of picking up a hoplite ends up being 1 in 100! It would mean that you'd have to spend $299 to score a single hoplite. Even if they are fairly common at 1 in 10, you'd still need to spend $29.90 at retail to score a single one if your going with the odds. With bricklink markups, there is no way that these guys will come cheap. I expect that they will start on bricklink around $12 or so and possibly climb in the future.

More likely the opposite. The collectible minifigures are supposed to be special and not part of any theme. So I guess a Roman/Greek/Ancient theme won't be possible for a couple of more years.

Indeed, the special molds are part of the collectors' value of the Collectible Minifigs. But you never know of course...

Agreed, if they're not going to be one of the super-common figs in series 2, which I strongly doubt they'll be, I'm guessing $12 will be a conservative estimate.

With the Hoplite being a collectible fig now who knows?

LEGO said they are exclusive figs, so maybe never even?

And the Hoplite will be in a very very high demand, I would say $12-15 being a good guess.

This is still a bit off-topic but nevertheless:

It was only said that those minifigures of the Minifigure series and their accessory will be unique and not appear in any other sets this year. But what about the years after?!

I'm quiet sure that there will be a new historical theme in 2011 or at the latest in 2012. I mean: How many different fantasy themes have we got in this and last year?! Space Police 3, World Racers, Atlantis and Power Miners - so two more than historical themes (Pirates and Kingdoms).

TLG knows what their fans want. And releasing always only Castle as a historical theme (independant from the quality and quantity of its sets) gets from time to time really boring. And TLG even gives away a lot of profit since there are a lot of AFOLs as well as JFOLs which would like to see some other historical theme than only Castle.

If you ask me, we'll get a new historical theme either in 2011 or 2012 and it will either be Western (which I personally would prefer) or Romans.

Agreed, I think romans, though awesome, would tie to much into castle. With mythology lego, you could easily get two years of awesome sets with many unique beasts such as cenatuar's and a hydra, or cerebus, or the Kraken from clash of the titans, or a chimera, or giant scorpions, or the big statue from god of war whos name escapes me, or a mudusa figure with custom head piece, or... well.. I think you guys get the point .

I totally agree with you, Richie.

Both themes in one line and/or in one year is absolutely excluded (already yet because kids want fractions which can be defined as the good and the bad or at least which don't look to similar - but Roman and Greek soldiers very supposably look for kids too similar).

Like already mentioned I bet that we'll see one of these themes in the next years. But next years could even mean firstly 2011 or later.

It will depend on whether TLG wants to release a fantasy theme (like the current "Castle" theme) - then Greeks will make it. Or whether they want to release a non-fantasy theme - then Romans will make it.

I'm not into fantasy at all! But if I were TLG, I'd release an Ancient Greece theme based on fantasy. Jake Raines, and Professor Archibald Hale travel to Greece and discover an Oracle that takes them back in time to Ancient Greece.... or whatever storyline they can think up. Like Pharaoh's Quest is for Ancient Egypt.

However, if TLG releases Ancient Rome, I'd think that doing it as historical accurate as possible is their best bet IMO. Maybe place it in the new Kingdoms subtheme under castle.

Although I'd love a Roman soldier and the chance to build a MASSIVE legion, I think that going that route has it's limitations in appeal and won't really ever be produced as a straight historic theme. (I am hoping like mad that series 5 of the collectible minifigures contains a Roman!)

A Greek theme would be more probable; one with mythological creatures. I think that this is just around the corner, but unfortunately in the form of a Pharaoh's Quest type theme. It's likely that the mythology of Ancient Greece will be made into sets soon enough, but I doubt it will be set in the ancient times.

Now if it were, by some strange chance, set in the world of the Odyssey for example I could see the following.

Theme: "Mythic Heroes" Includes:

* 10 small sets all equally priced each including an epic hero, and an epic monster for him/her to fight.

* Several bigger sets containing things like multiple heroes, a ship, bigger monsters, maybe a few temples.

* One huge set like the Parthenon.

Definitely Romans. I actually don't understand LEGO still hasn't started this theme! We're talking about it for this long. And it has such potential! Hmm... I think the Spartan figure in the minifigures set means we're not getting a Greek theme. But maybe a Roman theme is still possible. (Or did we get a Roman too?)

Romans with gladiators Ect.

I like the idea of Greek mythology. Great heroes pitted against monsters seems like a very LEGO thing to do. Gods and monsters. Temples and monuments. ships and adventures. That I can see as sets. Huge armies I can't.

There again I don't see why there couldn't be both Greek and Roman. If it fell into the Castle theme with forts and city walls and so on, it could simply be greek two years, Roman the next two.
