tomacwhite Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 That truck looks really cool, want one! Quote
CP5670 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have built mine into Nathanael's car for some years now. I like that model better than the stock one. Quote
Blakbird Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have built mine into Nathanael's car for some years now. I like that model better than the stock one. Which of Nathanael's models? He's got a "sport car" made only from 8458, a GT car which also has a transmission, and a "super car" which includes many of the parts from 8466. As far as I have been able to tell, there is no complete LDraw model for the latter, so considerable speculation would be needed to build it. I'd be interested to see if anyone has tried. Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I got Nathanael's Silver Sportscar on display for years on now! I really love the model. He build the model (with the parts of my set) for me to get in on display on brickworld 2004 (Could be 2005 aswell..... got a bit of a bad memory about this!) Quote

It's the "Silver sports car" pictured above. As you said, it uses the pieces from 8458 and is like an unofficial alternate model. I've seen the one built from 8466 at least in pictures, but not the GT. Quote
ybeline Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 I'm so sorry not to have this review finished yet. I got busy a lot with my studies. Perhaps later, I hope. Quote
Enilder Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Bumping this thread. Does anyone have 3rd official model built, which looks like street car version of F1? Based on pictures that I've seen, I am not sure why this 3rd unofficial model is so popular. Maybe I need to see RL picture of the 3rd official model to see how "crappy" it is(?). Quote

Yes, I have built it. It is a lousy model compared to the other options discussed in this thread. Quote
d00dz Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I bought this about 3 months ago off a retailer in Australia! Cost me like $350. I havent built it yet (no time :( ) Im pretty stocked I got one from a retail shop! But will do it one day when I have time. Quote
phool Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I found some really well taken photographs of this set from another site (here). You can get these and other higher resolution pics by hitting the link. Quote
DLuders Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 legoMan104 just posted some "Lego Technic #8458 silver truck PF Instructions". He shows how to MOTORIZE the 8458-2 (B-Model) "Silver Truck" with Power Functions elements: Quote
Choops Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 One of my favorite sets I own.. I enjoy rebuilding this model at least once every winter.. The way the model uses studded and studless parts together is brilliant. I also like the fact that the suspension is made from parts and not just one special piece. the set does not use many angle pieces so making flowing bodywork requires some imagination which Nathanael has done very well. Plastic Nurak Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) I like this set almost in all ways but the lack of a gearbox. Edited October 28, 2010 by Plastic Nurak Quote
Neil1968 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I found the OP by mistake, I have now joined, so that I can add my phots of all the 8458 models and the 2 requiring parts from the 8466. Sorry it's quite pic heavy. I hope I'm not being out of order with my second post by doing this. If I have I'm sorry. A. Silver Champion. B. Racing Truck C. Street Sensation (Lego's Official 3rd model, easy build but not particularly pleasing wise to look at) D. Nathanael Kuipers' Silver Sports Car (Good instructions, good build, looks good) E. Nathanael Kuipers' GT car (Requires parts from 8466, poor instructions made the build heavy going, cracking model when finished) F Nathanael Kuipers' Supercar (Requires parts from 8466, good building experience, plenty of features, definitely the best one) Quote
CisFran Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Finally I got my set today! Saw it posted from a local online selling forums. The seller was also a former AFOL. He bought it brandnew around US$250 (Swiss prices are high, that explains the price) back in year 2000, built it once and never touched it again. I got it for only $80!!!! Minty fresh complete with box, manuals & partially applied stickers. Now on with the pictures Parts neatly packaged The tires Manuals and stickers Edited February 2, 2013 by francisalmario Quote
DLuders Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 @ francisalmario: What a good deal you got for that set! Are you going to build the primary model, or one of the alternates that Neil1968 pictured in the post just before yours? Quote

Just got the set this morning I will build the primary model first, then the truck...I will also try the other models when I have time Quote
