Must have for those who want to see their children have some real fun.

One of the most playable Star Wars Set.

This is one of the classics of LEGO Star Wars.

Not too pretty in my opinion, but still a great set.

Compared to the re-release this was actually playable.

I'll add this to the index.

I very much remember this set, but I still see it as a prototype to the one released in 2003/4. I think it was a somewhat bas set due to these parts.

and what's up with this escape pod? Only one seat for a set that comes with six?

A true classic Star War sets. This was one of the most exciting signature ships/spacecraft which was released in the early 2000s when TLG has obtained the rights to produce SW LEGO. Even though, I have never owned a Millenium Falcon before, I do hope to own at least one of its version in the near future. This is one of the best looking spacecraft but its defintely a great start to its evolution. Thanks for this fine review.

nice review I like this set because it has playabilaty but I think the outer shell looks horrible but that might just be me.

Great review ybeline . This set is one of those that you can actually call "classic" (The old x-wing and old snowspeeder are classics too) and to be honest it doesn´t look so beautiful but it surely has it´s charm . The printed pieces are awesome and the minifigs too. The color combination is one big issue I never like in the old sets, just why put all that colors inside, they look insane . Neverless this is a cool set that I wish I own .

This justs looks odd aginst the two newer versions of the Falcon. Much more detailing on the newer versions.

I remember desperately wanting this set the first time I laid eyes on it, I think I was 13? But my parents said no... It's always been the one that got away from me, the Rosebud moment of my childhood.

And as ugly and quaint as it looks compared to the newer Falcons, I'd pick one up if I saw it reasonably priced. The wonders of financial independence.

The newer versions have more detailing than this one. However, this set's use of saucer shell pieces does a much better job than the other System-scale Falcons of conveying a round hull. Moreover, the way this set opens up for play access makes it much more suited for swooshing around; the friction-hinged loose roof panels with nothing to tie them down used by 4504 and 7965 tend to fall open when a ship is on maneuvers. The cockpit's seating looks much better than that on the later two ships, and doesn't spin like a B-wing cockpit internally. The printing looks kinda squashed though. The quad-gun here looks much better than 4504's, and that set's omission of secret floor compartments was criminal.

And AgentRick57, that's not an escape pod. That's a little cargo loading/external inspection skimmer, like the one in the contemporary Kenner Millennium Falcon.
