jennalchemy Posted April 16 Posted April 16 (edited) I'm planning to replace the brick built sails on 31109 with some custom tyvek ones I'm going to print on my inkjet, and I'm working on a design. At first I was just looking at the past Lego sails, but then I got the idea to try and convert the design of the brick built skull and bones to a vector logo myself. The original design: And my own design: I may end up going with a more classic skull and bones, but I still thought it was worth sharing! Edited April 16 by jennalchemy Quote
Murdoch17 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) It looks very good! However with me being a LEGO train addict - I see a railroad locomotive front in the skull. The stud is a stack, the teeth are the cowcatcher and the eyes are windows. I realize this skull is simply based off the brick-built one, but I couldn't help but see a train in it. ....ok, Now I'm itching to see a train / pirates mashup. (Maybe like the wasteland train from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, with this on a flag?) Edited April 17 by Murdoch17 Quote
jennalchemy Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 You're right, it does look like that! I would certainly love to see a pirate themed train. Quote

Okay, at first I saw a cross-eyed pirate (which, if he is the navigator, might explain why we're always off course) but when you said locomotive I cannot un-see it! @jennalchemy despite my initial reaction of seeing a cross-eyed pirate, I think it looks awesome. I've seen a few different cloth sail modifications for this set, but they're all pretty basic. This takes it to a new level and I love that. Also, I am not talented in this respect, so I hope that puts my initial impression in context. I wish I had the skill to do what you are doing! Quote

Great work, Jenna! Now we can weave a captivating tale around the pirates who fly this particular Jolly Roger design... Franco Clarke Posted April 18 Posted April 18 That's a great interpretation of the parts, quite different from the classic skulls we are used too, yet still undeniably Lego. Have you tried the same motif on a flag? Quote
