Hi all, I havent posted a topic here in about 4 years so forgive me if i make any formatting errors or similar.

This is my MOC of a 34-Gun Sailing Frigate. Not inspired by any real sailing ships in particular. I'm currently looking for work so had a lot of free time and got it done in about a weeks time.

Since i've never done rigging with 'bricks' and not string, i took a lot of inspiration from Frank Maurer on flickr -

I made a large amout of mistakes with this MOC, and it definitely can't be built with real bricks.

A few things id change would be the direction the that the floorboards run, and the lack of tumblehome on the upper part of the hull. Unfortunately due to the way that i built the hulls narrowing using hinge plates instead of half plate intervals with jumper plates i couldnt find a way to include it. this is mainly because i was planning on it being a much smaller, perhaps 14 or 18 gun sloop when i first started making it, but the size grew i soon realized this was a mistake. However im still proud of her being my first completed ship MOC in 4 years ( I had completed a few aircraft mocs in may of last year).

Enjoy, C&C appreciated!

(PS, Piece count for the ship herself is about 6k, with the base sitting at about 40K)

Glad to see ye back, @Count Vroskri! This be a fine vessel, even if a faulty design. I believe the essence of a MOC is that one piece that barely holds everything together, so yer design is acceptable to me. :pir-grin: I like the shape of the hull too, it has been achieved perfectly. Good job! :pir-thumb:

This is a beautiful frigate built with many details! :pir-huzzah2: I also really like the photos of the different construction phases.

Even though not everything can be built with real bricks, it has many good ideas. I'm currently struggling with the same problems when building a ship with real bricks.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm glad you took a look at my flickr to see the WIP photos.

Nice frigate matey, and your comeback falls sheer.

there's a little challenge incoming, the last transition between Era II and Era III

Thank you! I'll go check it out when I have time!

Has it really been four years already?

Welcome back!  I see you've been using your time wisely!

Your ship looks proper deadly, sir.  I have absolutely no pointers to make.  A great looking ship with just the right amount of detail :-)
