Ozark Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) “Ahoy there! Welcome to Port Royal!” - the harbor master says as he greets you and ensures that each visiting matey pay their proper tax due your majesty, the king. Centered in Port Royal is the governor’s mansion - the lifted foundation matches the architecture of the time and doubles as small windows for unfortunate pirates imprisoned in the cells below. The governor's mansion is easily removable for easy access to the prison cells and prison corridors below. To the right of the Governor’s mansion are the towering imperial lookouts built directly on the Caribbean bluffs. A watchman’s bell hangs above the first watchtower to alert the imperial force of any incoming threats to the port town. Every effect the imperial force might need can be found in the watchtowers: telescopes, satchels, guns, gunpowder, and lanterns galore. Inside the second watchtower there is a captain’s quarters with a prime view of the Caribbean. Behind the captain’s desk there hangs two very special keys - especially important to the pirates imprisoned in the cells below. Across town and to the left of the governor’s mansion sits a timber-built blacksmith shop providing weaponry for pirate and soldier alike. A small import boat carries tropical fruit to and from the island, these fresh ingredients are put to great use at the small bake shop atop the blacksmith shop. Shutter’s flank each window of both the governor’s mansion and the bake shop, should any tropical threat of storm or maelstrom arise. Buried in the sand under the old road out front of the Governor’s Mansion sits a small cellar used for precious cargo (most likely rum). Legend tells of a treasure cove once rumored to be found here among the native tribes of the island. I hope you have enjoyed your tour of Port Royal! The inspiration for this build came from some missing architecture to my Pirate collection: the influence of French and Colonial style that fills the Caribbean. While Spanish forts are incredibly beautiful, I have a soft place for the early architecture seen throughout much of Florida , the Bahamas, and displayed in the wonderful Pirates of the Caribbean films! Jack Sassy Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This is a perfectly balanced model, I like how the interior space has been used dynamically. Have ye considered this model as an IDEAS submission? Because this looks like it could be a set. Good job! Quote
NOD Posted January 23 Posted January 23 This is a great diorama of Port Royal! They are very beautifully buildings with interesting details inside and out. Good selection of minifigures. It's fun to watch what happens in the individual photos. Quote
Sebeus I Posted January 23 Posted January 23 That small bridge to the tower is an excellent feature, adds a lot to the atmosphere of the model. Quote
Ozark Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Thank you so much @Jack Sassy! I submitted it a while ago and it never passed because they said it had too many mini-figures! I tried it again with no minifigures and they said the same thing! So I just need to try again because there must have been an error. Again, thank you so much for the kind words! @NOD I am so glad you enjoy Port Royal and thank you not only for the kind words but also for helping me understand how to upload photos on here! @Sebeus I That is so cool that you enjoyed that! I thought it would be a great lookout for the imperial soldiers and create sort of a gate/wall that you often see surrounding those Caribbean fortresses! Thank you for taking the time to comment on that! Quote

Quite often they reject the Pirates submissions, truly a shame. Quote
