anyUser Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 The truck is tiny compared to 42128 Tow Truck: It'll also look funny compared to the Volvo truck from 42175. It would matter less if there was only one rear axle as a doule axle indicates a heavy duty truck. On the suggestion of using 49 mm truck tyres: - bigger cabin (orange one is adapted from 8052) - overall width increase from 13L to 15L. However, I think the model has potential for improvement: Because of the 19L and 13L frames the truck chassis does not need many parts: I think it should be feasible to drop the 3x5L lever on the tipping mechanism and move the linear actuator to the upper tier: The left setup works fine for me. The relocation would free space to add a differential on rear axle(s). In the cabin seems to be space to add a 4-cylinder fake engine. Quote

Satisfied Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Although he appears to have a great subject matter, he is too small with few features, like an enlarged version of 42147 Quote
Auroralampinen Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Here is first review and with english subtitles Quote
A_Dilophosaurus Posted February 22 Posted February 22 interested to see what alternates come of this, perhaps a snowplow, euro truck, or some sort of container handler, through the lack of linear actuator is disappointing Quote

Shiva Posted February 23 Posted February 23 First thing that came to my mind, it´s cute. And after seeing the video. It is still cute. Quote
M_longer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I have built the 42203, using those large frames gave it a bit of "Technic Dupo" feeling, few parts and we have whole frame. Quote
Auroralampinen Posted February 26 Posted February 26 https://brickset.com/article/119292 Here is brickset review :) Quote
Auroralampinen Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Well i did watch one speed build of the 42203 and i was shocked at the front bumper solution and yes i know this is a product for childs but i think they still deserve something mode complicated than the lego's solutions for the bumper In the middle lego solution in the left my solution without any structuall changes to 42203 and in the right my completely overhauled versions bumper and i still don't understand the desicion of using plates and tiles for the license plate since i used complete technic style and my design is flush with the bumper and i think my design is maybe more stronger than the legos solution but luckily i checked on rebrickable i have basically every piece for the 42203(exept the mudguards) so i will make comparison with my overhauled version and i will implement my license plate solution to the 42203:) Quote

Sokolov Edward Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) The model is simple and contains almost no new unavailable parts, except for the 3x13 frames. But they are easily replaced with 2 pairs of 71710 beams. You will have to slightly change the assembly order of the lift in the rear. As a bonus, you will have 2 parts 3713. Of the shortcomings, I can only note the tight steering. The easiest fix is to cut the friction on 2393. Update: You can also use simple beams 41239 in the lower part of the frame. Auroralampinen Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) Well as promised i did build the 42203 and it was all right experience i did some tveeking on the looks but other than that this was pleasant experience and the tipping function works better than i expected:) Edited March 5 by Auroralampinen Quote
Auroralampinen Posted March 5 Posted March 5 And yes my modded 42203 uses wheels from 42175. But i rebuilded the modded version today. And i noticed one of the wheel rims had no clutch to the axle, idk what has happened. Usually this is problem with chinese bricks but not in lego Quote
vascolp Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I think this is a problem of the new materials lego uses. Also, they are more sensible to high temperatures (for instance washing with hot water), and loosing clutch efect is one of the consequences. Quote

Well i have not washed my pieces in washing machine i live in finland and we have pretty cool weather in here:) Quote
Auroralampinen Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Happy news my mini 8043 is fully compatible with the original 42203:) Quote
NV Lego technic Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I don't even have to watch it because I know that it will just be complaining and reminiscing of the old times. Quote

Maaboo the Witch Posted March 7 Posted March 7 This has gotta be one of the most boring and pointless sets ever. Who okayed this? Quote
Jundis Posted March 8 Posted March 8 2 hours ago, Maaboo the Witch said: This has gotta be one of the most boring and pointless sets ever. Who okayed this? Sales managers okayed this. The design team surely put a fake engine and diffs in it, but it exceeded the aim for the parts limit. I really feel sry for the designers team... they surely look at this and say: "wait, why was this approved? the only advantage to the 42147 ist the third axle..." Quote
