I am honored to present this lovely frigate on the Eurobricks Pirate MOC Forum first. After all, my journey into Lego sailing ships started on this very forum back in 2009!

It looks as marvelous as ever. Any significant structural changes since last version?

Thanks! :D I put a lot more effort into the presentation as well, but Fortuna really has become prettier with the rebuilt!
Structurally, I redesigned the internal technic frame in order to save pieces that I could then put into additional detailing (about 50 or so - every piece counts!).

Very beautiful frigate with lots of details! :pir-huzzah2: I especially like the side of the quarterdeck which slopes upwards.

Ahh, thanks! Yes, the sides of the quarterdeck sloping upwards is one of the main achievements of the rebuild, the other being the bow that is both more accurate - with the shape of the headrails - and more sturdy!

Ooh, what a lovely ship!  Everything is extremely well done, especially that rigging (I'm gonna have to go purist on that sometime!), but I'm definitely taking notes on the use of those golden crowbars and the beautiful curves you've managed on the hull with those large 4x4 corner curved slopes!  Such an elegant and smooth shape   Callout to the ingenious attachment of the railing on the angled part astern too! :steve:

You have finally had enough fortune and made it! I immediatiatly had to log in to congratulate!

I hope these 4000pcs will not cost a Fortune! :pir-grin:
Great that you kept on trying.

Congrats on this.  Shame it couldn't have won with the bluecoat crew, still, the castle torsos are ok.

I've set up a notification to buy this when it's available, can't decide if I will get one or two.

I'll make some custom sails and convert it to a bluecoat ship.

I feel this is one of the best ship designs out there right now, certainly the most reasonably priced (assuming $400).

Congrats on getting this picked for production!

I’m curious to know if they will want to modify it from the original submission much? Will it come with fabric sails?
So many questions.

I think my Eldorado Fortress 10320, minifigs, might have a ship in the future? I only bought the minifigs from that set.

Congratulations! I kept hoping one of your ships would be selected. Now my main question is, will I be able to afford this when it's finally up for crowdfunding?

Thank you so much! Yeah, it was tough; especially the rebuild that I did for Series 6! It was only because of the great support that I got from the community that I could carry on! :pir-wub:
Very pirate-y nickname you have there mate! ARRR :pir-triumph:

Well, the first iteration of my frigate was designed as a Bluecoat ship; and I originally only started designing my first frigate for BDP (Concordia for Series 3!) because the Bluecoat torsos were made available!
So I definitely had Bluecoats in mind for this ship, and they work really well with her! :bonaparte:

I'll make a tutorial for custom sails! It's fun to do a little crafting, and they really look great! :pir-sweet:

Fabric sails out of the box are a no; reason being that Lego doesn't manufacture them but tasks a contractor and the BDP timeline is too short!

For a model ship, furled up sails are completely appropriate; and they are also purist - only Lego pieces are used! Keep in mind Fortuna also involves no tying of knots! :pir-grin:

I will release a tutorial on making custom cloth sails!

Thank you! :pir-wub: Yes, I started designing my ships with the Eldorado Fortress in mind!

Fortuna can in fact dock at the pier of the Eldorado Fortress, so they are fully compatible! Have a look at http://instagram.com/brickperfection

Thank you! :pir-wub: Well, I know Fortuna will be expensive :pir-look: But I suppose it depends how much you want her. :pir-hmpf:

I have no control over Lego prices; and I worked really hard to deliver the best bang :cannon: for the piece count; to give you as much ship as possible within the part limit! :pir-huzzah2:

Congrat-ye-lations on your BrickLink Series 7 success! :pir-huzzah2:

The Fortuna has a long history with the BrickLink Designer Program as its been submitted in multiple series.

Time to start documenting the evolution this build on the Classic-Pirates.com blog!

So if we were to put a timeline together:

Does seem about right?

Cheers! :pir-huzzah2:

The Timeline isn't quite accurate - Concordia from Series 3 is an entirely different ship with a different hull shape and techniques etc.

I physically built three ships in total over my efforts for the BrickLink Designer Program: Concordia (Series 3), Minerva (Series 4), Fortuna (Series 6).

So as I said, Concordia is entirely separate. Fortuna was rebuilt for Series 6, which involved a new and more part-efficient technic frame to free up more pieces for detailing. The hull shape is unchanged from Series 4, but still you would consider it a 'new' ship because the internal structure is different.

Thank you for the clarification! :pir-huzzah2:

Also, I wanted to get permission to use certain photos because having smiling faces helps with the promotion.

Like this one for example...

Ohh, yes of course! That picture is perfect actually, showing all three ships that I talked about. From left to right: Concordia (competed in Series 3 & 4), Minerva (Series 4 & 5), Fortuna (Series 6 & 7).

That's brilliant!  That's exactly what we need! :steve:

In addition to the promotion of Fortuna, do you mind if the photo is added to the Classic Pirates fan gallery?
