Governor Mister Phes Posted August 5, 2023 Governor Posted August 5, 2023 Mini Set Building Category Design a Mini LEGO Pirate set containing less than 50 pieces that would have traditionally retailed for less then $6/5€/£4. The prize is a set of your choosing to the value of 35€ which is currently available on your local LEGO.com. VOTE FOR THE WINNERS! ENTRIES CLOSED! New entries will no longer be accepted in the Main Building Category New entries will no longer be accepted in the Mini Set Building Category New Creative Critic registrations will not be accepted. Those who have registered for Creative Critic but have not provided feedback to entries will automatically be disqualified. Who is going to WIN? VOTE NOW! Like main building category your entry can be: 1. A new Classic-Style set Imagine you're a designer working for the LEGO Group and you've been tasked with designing a small classic-style LEGO Pirate set. The emphasis is building a creation that could pass as an official LEGO set. The design could be pure classic 1989-1997 style or modern like Barracuda Bay. But REMEMBER: these sets typically had around 30 pieces and there is no requirement to max out the 50 piece limit. SUGGESTION:, a small set or boat set was never released for the Imperial Armada - so here's an opportunity to rectify that. 2. Modernise/Update an existing Classic set Which small classic LEGO Pirate set could benefit from a modern makeover? And we stress: the objective is NOT to create a full blown MOC based on an existing set! You goal is to take the charm and simplicity of the original design and put a modern spin on it. Existing Sets More Examples of Mini LEGO Pirate Sets Want to build something LARGER? Want MORE prizes to WIN? Enter the Main Building Category where without the piece restriction and the opportunity to WIN second and third place prizes. How to Vote Click the VOTE NOW button to be taken to the Voting page. Entry Limit You may post as many Mini Set creations to the Pirate MOC Forum as you see fit in order to receive Creative Critic feedback. However, you may only submit three entries for Mini Set Voting. So use the Creative Critic feedback as an opportunity to determine which of your creations are likely to be most popular with voters. Frequently Asked Questions I have already submitted a Mini Set build in the Main Building Category - can I change it to the Mini Set Category? What do you mean you're not up to the task? What kind of nonsense is that? Just get yer LEGO out and start playing around with some ideas and see where it takes you. Quote

janhansson Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Quote Can I enter creations I've already built? No. Your entries must be built after August 6. Regarding this rule - My 6235 Buried Treasure remake was posted two days earlier than that, and was started in late July I think. Does this mean I can not enter it as a small set? I think there are others who also started on small sets prior to the 6th. Quote
Marooned Marin Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 @Mister Phes just to clarify something, regarding the part-count of the minifigures: Do we regard torso+arms+hands as one piece, like say on BrickLink, or we count it as it is, 5 pieces? Same question about the legs, 1 piece as a whole assembly, or 3 pieces? Quote
Rogue Redcoat Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 I'm sure we will do it the way Lego does the legs as one part and the torso as one. Quote

Rui Miguel Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 I have the same question in regard to the classic chrome gold coins (Item No: 70501) https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=70501&idColor=21#T=S&C=21&O={"color":21,"iconly":0} Does this count as one? Or should I count each individual coin? I can't make a classic set without some classic coins Quote
