Void_S Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Hello mates! As we all know the set 42138 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has come not been as good as we all expected. Here, in this topic, let's try to compile our unstoppable ideas and attempt to make the World even better My first input here is a "donkey" headlight fix. The result is not perfect but needs just a few extra parts and makes it a little better. Before VS After "Facelifting": I'm sorry, I out the wrong LED slope to the left (right for the driver) side... And how it can be done. Just raise the round headlight a bit using the 1x1 plate and divide the 2x1 bracket into a pair of 1x ones. Edited December 28, 2021 by Void_S Adjusted the topic Quote
StudWorks Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Cool! It looks so much better already, I wonder why Lego didn't do this themselves. Still hard to justify this to last year's McLaren Senna. Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Would it be possible/good looking to raise the stickered cheese slope as well? You'd have to disconnect it from the lime 1x2 curved slope, but I imagine it could look a lot better. Quote

It looks better but I still didn’t manage to fit them under these lime small fairings - their mounts blocks the headlights from above Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 (edited) I managed to put the differential, V8 engine, and rear HOG steering knob into this model. Instruction is coming soon. Death to the false Technic!! Edited December 27, 2021 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
Dami Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Thanks bro for this mod. Does it need many extra parts? Quote
1gor Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 When I see how much effort you put in positive mods I got tempted to buy sets that are originally fiasco IMHO Quote

As time goes by, seeing 2022 sets, only 42139 look to me as sets deserved to be called Technic...(licensed sets except pullbacks are not that bad but imho overpriced; don't understand why non-licensed set can not be done?) Ngoc Nguyen Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 (edited) A few other mods incorporated: - @Void_S 's front light lift - The wheels are turned inside out so that the spokes are shown outward, just like in the real car. - The dashboard, made of two 2x3 panels, are fixed to the car instead of the hood. In the official model the dashboard is attached to the hood, so when the hood is opened the dashboard also tilts backwards, which is unrealistic to me. - The black ridges on the hood are now attached to the hood instead of to the body. In the official model they are attached to the body, and because of that they don't open when the hood is open, which is also unrealistic to me. The 1/2 stud offset of the front wheels are still preserved to create the slanting pose of the car at rest. Edited December 27, 2021 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote

That is the hardest thing fir me, I tried to add working steering but stopped until NY holidays due to damn over-workload by the end of the year Looking forward to see how you did it, to compare with my drafts. Just borrowing the existing internals of Corvette with no 0.5 offset was too boring and unfair to the original model Quote

Till now 42139 looks very Technic-y to me. Seeing that visual that you presented instantly gave me a good feeling! This feeling needs to be felt more lol. Jurss Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 what would we do, if lego made almost perfect sets Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Grohl designed this set and he's had some mod ideas as well: But in that video he just introduces the mod and asks for like + sub + comment. There's no instruction yet. Edited January 1, 2022 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
thekoRngear Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) The recent official sets by Grohl give us tough hell. They are no straight bad, but full of genius attempts and controversial designs and raised eyebrows. I guess the video will have a follow up once it reaches higher number of likee sub and comment which many reputed youtubers ask for. Our resident folks here at EB already managed to come out with mods as well Edited January 1, 2022 by thekoRngear Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 A buddy and I threw this set together at his place today, but he didn't have any of the 24112 part that sits on the rear axle between the pullback motors. Therefore, we had to improvise! We put a 16T gear in its place, and replaced the 3x5 L-beam that is part of the catch with this assembly: Not having built the stock version, I'm not sure if this is a modification that others would like to try, but for what it's worth, we didn't experience any of the issues of jamming that Sariel described in his video, so maybe it could be worth it! Also, we came up with a super-simple three-piece mod to provide a space for the removable lever to be stored in the car, requiring only two 1500 pins and one 11214 pin. The lever slots into the 1500s and rotates down, and then the 11214 is slid over to lock it in place. (We tried using a bush-pin there, but it caused rubbing on the half-stud-offset front axle). apachaihapachai Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) I think the roof was placed too far back. It should be moved one stud to the front. Something like this. Wip solution Edited January 5, 2022 by apachaihapachai Quote
apachaihapachai Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) Tried to change the rear slightly. Here are two variants. Edited January 6, 2022 by apachaihapachai Quote
