Stuartn Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) Hi all, this is the first part of my work in progress train layout that I have shared, and my first - publicly shared - train MOC which can run on an actual layout. It is a very basic little goods van (boxcar) which is used by the mail authority. It is not based on any design I am aware of, but takes inspiration from some real goods vans and guards vans. This is an image of the build on a part of one of my layout modules. I would've preferred to have built a van with bogies, which is the more common of an already increasingly rare form rolling stock, and while I have some plans to build such items I am content with this design for the time being. I hope to share more of my actual layout over the coming weeks. Thanks for looking. Edited December 21, 2021 by Stuartn Quote
ColletArrow Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Good work! You made an interesting model out of what could be considered a very plain subject - there's a lot of subtlety here, with the partially-sideways door and claws recessed into the back of the headlight bricks. I know it probably wasn't intentional, but the worn quality of the bricks gives the wagon a "well-used" feeling too. Nice job! Quote
Feuer Zug Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Nice mail car. Simple is elegant in this instance. Many people model the glamorous cars and consists, but the mail is an important part of life. Kudos for delving into the rarely considered car types. Quote
Brickwolf Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 (edited) Nice mail car with a classic feeling. Well done! Edited December 22, 2021 by Brickwolf Quote

Thank you, I actually did notice the worn bricks, and while I never purposefully intended to use them, I didn't mind as they did give the rustic vibe. 5 hours ago, Feuer Zug said: Nice mail car. Thank you, while it is a rare sort of car, I am planning a sort of mail centre on my layout, and will integrate this into the build 5 hours ago, zephyr1934 said: That's a great little mail van. Thank you both, the angled stripes were mainly added because I couldn't find the grey panel piece I needed to complete the side, I am happy with the end result though. 16 hours ago, LegoDW said: I like it!
