Color Matching LEGO Bricks - printer?

Hello,

 

Has anyone found a specific model of printer or printer settings (from Photoshop) to be particularly successful in matching the LEGO color spectrum?

I'm particularly trying to match dark bluish gray and tan/dark tan. I've tried the original Classic-Castle color chart, the peeron chart, the 2016 official chart, etc. I'm printing on PPD vinyl sticker paper, but the results have been less than stellar lately.

You'll need to pay attention to the color space that you're using in Photoshop as well as what print technology your printer actually uses (and calibrate the two as best as possible).  Photoshop is probably in RGB by default, so switching to CYMK and then using the CYMK colors from the linked chart would be a good place to start to see if the physical output is then a closer match to the actual real-life Lego colors.

It is very difficult, not one printer is the same. Vinyl printers often use more colors than CMYK as well. You could first print some reference but it is still very difficult. Also the companies that print for TLG have difficulties with matching the colors.

You'll also have to be careful of the surface you print on. Prints on different white papers will appear different. I think the only thing you can do is test, test, test until you are close enough.

Hey! For my drawings, I use the official Color Palette Lego released some years ago, I also updated it with new colors. I can share it if you want.
