Hyphos Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I join in this diorama two of my favorites themes (Adventurers and SCFI). In the theme Adventurers I try to recreate a scene from the Ancient Egypt, with Pharaoh, Queen, soldiers, priests, etc. Some monuments like sphinxes, obelisks and temples. In the theme SCFI I create a kind of "working" "Stargate" (is not a replica ). You can see a video of the Stargate .You can see the other photos here. The photos was taken during the assmbly in my house and in two Exibitions organize by PLUG. Since the diorama is made in modules, the arranje varie from exibition to exibition . Some of the ideas express in this diorama, are from people that I have found in the internet. To them my THANKS. Comments are welcome. Quote
mammymarf Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 it looks really good I love the stargate and all the details you did a very good job! Quote
Shadows Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Welcome to EB and thank you for sharing this! It's absolutely beautiful! All of the tiny details are overshadowed by the size and magnitude of the build, so it's important to go pic by pic and look at every little thing. The seated Queen, the horse drawn chariot type thing (I'm sure it has a different name), the row of small sphinxes, the anubis statues/guards, all those tan baseplates . I'm not sure about the pizza drums, but they're still cute. It reminds me a little of the game Serious Sam, which is a good thing. Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Great job! I like the way you designed the Ancient Egypt! It looks real nice, filled with details too. Thanks for sharing it with us, and Welcome to Eurobricks! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) That'S a great Egyptian Diorama, Hyphos! The star gate disturbs me a bit (because I don't like that much fantasy) but otherwise it's excellent - with all these details, the nice mnifigs and the great buildings! Very well done! And by the way: Welcome to Eurobricks! Klaus-Dieter Edited May 26, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
kill will Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I love it! Everything about it is perfect... Welcome to EB! Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Excellent, the scale of the diorama is excellent and combined with the level of detail it's very good. I do like your stargate and jackal heads are great. Quote
Dragonator Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 This is awesome Hyphos! Ancient Egypt is an awesome place, and we very rarely see all that many MOCs of it. I myself would like to do a few, but I need to buy some desert adventure sets off Bricklink first. Anyway, I'll stop chatting... well actually no, that's impossible, let me rephrase that... I'll turn my consistent chatter towards your fabulous MOC! There are some awesome details in there, you are very imaginative. The overall scene looks stunning, with some very Egypt-looking buildings and monuments. I love the line of Anubis's, and the various Sphinx look really nice. BUt it's those little details that count for me. Things like the brick-built Anubis masks on the people, the sweet parade of people and horses, and the queen on her throne carried by lots of servants, those are the best bits.It is these neat bits that really make a scene for me. Well done indeed. My only sore point is the use of a futuristic Star Gate. To me, this doesn't fit with ancient Egypt, but that is a personal view point so don't take it as anything more. It is a very nicely built Star Gate though, and if this were a Sci-Fi sort of things with aliens coming down to help the agents etc then this would be perfect! Actually it's already starting to grow on me, especially see Indy 4. OK, so ignore that last comment, I love it! Good job and I hope to see more in the future. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Great work! The details on this are amazing! Those sphinxes look very nice and I really like the little parades. Fantastic work! Quote
Basiliscus Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 As a fan of any historically faithful MOCs (maybe except the Stargate... ) I think this is great! Keep up the good work. Quote
Athos Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Very cool. Pharoah looks like he'll be getting a little warm in that get up. I also like the use of the old fireman torso on his guards, but I can't get past seeing them as firemen. I also cross-posted this to adventurers.dk. Steve Quote
Asuka Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 A very fine diorama indeed, and I like your motorized stargate very much. A really cool work! Quote
lego.ryan Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 This is awesome! I love seeing ancient Egyptian MOCs, and this one is no exception. My favorite part is that it has that classic LEGO feel- you weren't afraid to use red, blue, yellow, and white prominently; instead of making them accent colours, and the result is very nice. It also reminds me of the opening scene of The Mummy (1999), which is a very good thing. Keep it up! Ryan Quote
Hyphos Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks to everyone for the feedback Next Time I don't include the Stargate Again Thanks Quote
Dovchenko Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks to everyone for the feedback Next Time I don't include the Stargate Again Thanks Yes. Remove the stargate and expand on it to make some base or something, and maybe make a temple in the Stargate's place? I like your MOC alot, those figs are perfect! PIZZA SHIELDS IN PARTICULAR! Quote
commanderbly42 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Woah! That is amazing! The obelisks are great, the statues of the Egyptian gods are really cool, and the stargate is really good. My only criticism is that the pyramids are a bit small. Other than that, great job! Quote
Hyphos Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Woah! That is amazing! The obelisks are great, the statues of the Egyptian gods are really cool, and the stargate is really good. My only criticism is that the pyramids are a bit small. Other than that, great job! The lack of yellow bricks made the pyramids small, and that was the constructions of my kids Quote
