ParmBrick Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 The M1 Abrams is an American main battle tank. Highly mobile, designed for modern armored ground warfare, the M1 is well armed and heavily armored. Notable features include a powerful AGT1500 multifuel turbine engine, sophisticated composite armor, and separate ammunition storage. This tank has also advanced conuntermeasures. The M1A2 M1A2 Abrams is equipped with Tank Urban Survival Kit armor upgrade equipment and Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS). The main gun is a 120 mm L/44 M256A1 smoothbore gun (42 rounds) rifled tank gun firing a variety of rounds. This version offers the tank commander an independent thermal sight and ability to, in rapid sequence, shoot at two targets without the need to acquire each one sequentially. Also has TOW missiles pod with 2x missile, on each side of the turret. SEP V.3 stand for System Enhanced Package, so this version of M1 Abrams has a number of upgrades in the areas of survivability, maintainability, full efficiency and network capability. The primary mission is to provide mobile, protected firepower for combined-arms maneuver and wide-area security. The Abrams must be capable of engaging the enemy in any weather, day or night, on the multi-dimensional, non-linear battlefield using firepower, maneuver and shock effect. This is a combination of developmental upgrades and the addition of mature technologies that include the Ammunition DataLink (ADL), improved 120mm ammunition, Improved Forward-Looking Infrared (IFLIR) and the low-profile (LP) CROWS. TUSK stand for Tank Urban Survival Kit, the TUSK 2 update is an advanced and more efficient upgrade of the first version that increases the survival capacity of the tank in urban battlefields.
