steph77 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Hi all, and Particlary Jim... Is it ok to post a WIP topic for this contest or not? Just to be sure... Quote
Jim Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Actually I am not sure what the rules say. I am definitely okay with it and I encourage EB members to post their WIPs, but I am not sure about the official TLG rules. I have changed the prefix to [PORSCHE] by the way, also in the contest topic. Quote
Charbel Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Okay okay, so I'm not the only one working on that exact model. Looking forward to see your car Steph ! PS : If WIP topics are allowed, I would create one too. Quote
Jim Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Reading the rules, I don't see any limitations on existing MOCs and/or posting a WIP....so I think it's cool. Quote
steph77 Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 I just post the question on rebrick comments page to be sure it is allowed or not. Quote
steph77 Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 I got the official answer from REBRICK: RebrickAdmin @SR-77 Yes, that's completely allowed! There's no restriction on sharing your model elsewhere in this contest. Let's go or a wip topic! Quote
Technivor Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) No Charbel you are not the only who want to make one Edited June 23, 2016 by Technivor Quote
steph77 Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 Hi eurobrikers, Here is what i am working on for this contest. This is a scaled model of the 919 hybrid LMP1 car. As you can see i worked it at a small scale. About 1/2 of the 42056... I try to implement great functions in it. -First is a modular building frame and a bodywork that can easy be removed -Second a sequential 4 speeds gearbox. I still ask myself for the lever. I have few solutions but i think, on this model and at this scale, that something very simple can be the best solution -Direction with HOG -Opening doors -4WD -Leveling system for pitstops -And, if possible du to weight, a reversible KERS system based on a pullback motor. Some pictures of the curent state of the WIP: Any comments are welcome! Quote
Jay Psi Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Doesn't the 919 have a turbocharged V4, and not a V8? Apart from that though, it's looking good so far! Edited June 24, 2016 by Jay Psi Quote
Vectormatic Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Very nice! i like the idea of the pullback reversible ERS, i had a similar idea on that as well, two simple gearboxes should do the trick (one for reversing direction, one for either linking the motor to the drive axle, or locking it down) Quote

offroadcreations Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Mine's about the same scale as yours. Yours looks very promising with lots of nice details. Edit: I did not copy your scale, mine was already in this scale. Edited June 25, 2016 by Offroadcreat1ons Quote
TheMindGarage Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I'm planning two entries, and one is going to be this model. I bet nobody's going to have the same features as I'm planning though... Quote

The engine looks nice too, as does the panel placement. Are you building to scale, or a blueprint, or just on the go? Quote
steph77 Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) I do not use any blueprint. I Just follow my inspiration on this.... Edited June 25, 2016 by steph77 Quote

Im really looking forward to the results, im not a good MOCer myself, but seeing a bunch of these 919s designed will be awesome! Quote
steph77 Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 (edited) Hi, Current state of the WIP i finalised the front end. The whole trunk opensin one piece. Direction and embended steering Wheel are functional I also take out the 4WD. it generate friction and needed a central differential that took too much place. Actually i got a realistic cockpit with enough space for the pilot Still not satisfied on the lateral proportions, still lots off work on that point. V8 homemade engine as been exchanged by a standard 4 cylinders lego official engine - a think a better choice for a REBRICK contest, and more realistic here Back view satisfied me at this point. missing the rear end wing View of the opening trunk Edited June 26, 2016 by steph77 Quote
Vectormatic Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Looking good! I really need some of those wheels, those are off of 42041 right? I wish lego made mode cars/racecars in this scale Quote
steph77 Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) Actual WIP progress : I worked hardly on integrating the KERS system. Sadly, i failed due to weight of the car and due to the fact that when using gears between a pullback motor and final transmission doesn’t work proprely. So my thought at this point is simply removing this system. I’ll try to work on a centrifugal wheel in place of the pullback. The issue is that technology is from audi and toyota, in real life :( This said, i finalised the cockpit area with a simple mechanism for opening the doors, i locked the frame in all direction and adjust the direction system. I finaly used a pin joiner for HOG with a different gear setup that keep it very smooth. I also began the final setup of the gearbox wich will be a sequential 4 speed, as on 42056. But without any friction and a real high rotation setup (begin with a 24T/8t/20T/diff…) Pictures of the actual progress (my son build the back area but was too lasy to search proper color element, need to check this point) View of the cockpit area Edited June 27, 2016 by steph77 Quote
Vectormatic Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Looking good! How about placing the pullback KERS on the front wheels? that would return some type of 4WD to the model as well, but reduce the amount of gears between the pullback and the wheels. Will you be publishing instructions once you finish the build? So far this is looking excellent, and id love to build it myself Quote
steph77 Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 I will try to implement the pullback KERS on the front wheels. Not sure there will be enough space for it. I think to realise a ldd file for it, no instructions. I'll published it for free:) Quote
Thirdwigg Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 This looks great. Great use of color, and those headlights looks perfect. Quote
JamesJT Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Great little car, I can imagine lego producing something very much like this as an official set. Its also nice to see somebody else using the blue 18944 and 24116 panels. Quote
