temes Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 It looks great! However, I'm not interested in the theme itself so it's a pass for me. Quote
WhiteFang Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Excellent piece of musical art. This looks better than I anticipated, without it being too cartoonish and staying close to the actual reference. Quote
The lego fan Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I'm not a Beatles fan and to be honest, I don't think this set is that good anyway?. I mean the whole set is made out of a lot of weird parts that look a bit like Duplo realy. I guess the minifigures are quite whacky and the whole concept is kind of intrusting but I'll certainly pass on this set. Quote
Sven J Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I WANT IT!!! This is a glorious and affectionate tribute to four of the greatest musicians in history (says one who was born six years after the Beatles' split-up)! Quote

Because the way I see it it's mostly pretty basic slope, curved slope, and dome pieces. The same sorts of parts you might find in an Elves, Star Wars or Ninjago set. Anyway, I'm not as nostalgic for the Beatles as many people, but this is a great set with a charming design and some fantastic building techniques to achieve its quirky shape! Quote

Sorry to burst that bubble, but given that A) it's an Ideas set and not actually designed by Lego/TLG, B) the pics and video that are already out there depict them as being fleshy, C) the "rule of thumb" (thus far, at least) is that far licensed themes are fleshy, and D) the other the "rule of thumb" (again, thus far, at least) is that Lego Ideas sets don't get "encores"*, my money's on the fact that John, Paul, Ringo, and George are fleshy. The good news is that you can substitute in your own yellowy heads for them once the official set comes out. The way I see it, you're especially in luck because John's shirt is the only one that has any flesh marks on it, and thus, they all can look just as good yellowy as they do fleshy! Except for John, who officially has a penchant for tan undershirts, of course. :P *To all of you who try to exempt 'D' by mentioning the Ghostbusters: They're the exception, not the rule. rob-ot5000 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 OH DEAR GOD, THAT BOX IS BEAUTIFUL! Seriously. This will be mine. Everything about it looks wonderful. Quote
BMTHbuilder Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I love it. . Massive Beatles fan. . Definitely a buy for me and a permanent display model. Quote
Covi Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Love the usage of the red sausages for the railing. That plain white pizza slice will also be handy for MOCs. Quote
H3ssian Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Man still so excited about this set, each day more piccys etc comes out :D Fantastic work by the orignal designer!!! Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 I love it! The price is about what I expected, and really not bad at all considering it's 550 pieces including five figures, and printed parts for all deco (one presumes, anyway). Lots of bright, cheery color, and aside from the printed parts it appears several parts are making their debuts in these colors. I want two! Quote
Robianco Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 It's fantastic. I can't wait to build this. It's about as good as I could have hoped it would be. Quote
Forresto Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yellow Submarine IS my childhood movie. I remember watching this movie over and over again. My family are huge Beatles fans so I might just have to get two, one for myself and one for my parents. I doubt they will make more sets, and if they never do I will be entirely satisfied with what we got, but I hope we get one more. I would love to get a Blue Meanie and Old Fred mini figure. I don't know about you guys but i'm smelling a possible Dimensions world? Quote
SirRexworth Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Ringo has a hole in his pocket! I will be getting thus set. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 I'm curious about the timing. This is coming out in a couple weeks, before the Adventure Time figure set, despite coming from the batch after the one that had that project. It's not the first time one Ideas set has leapfrogged another in the production queue, but the first time it happened (when the Ghostbusters set came out before the Exo Suit) there seemed to be clear reasons for it. I wonder why it happened this time... Quote

Robert8 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Wow it will be out on Nov 1st? This was kinda fast, wasn't it? I mean it was approved on June.... Quote

parsom Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Black and white versions of early Beatles would be nice addition to this set... Quote
tafkatb Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 This looks amazing! Makes excellent use of a lot of new parts; I'm already a little tempted to get a second one as a parts pack. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Nov 1st? That was unexpected. I have a feeling this will be out of stock for a bit after being released. Hopefully I'll be able to snag the figs (minus the Mr. Potato weirdo, no offense to any fans of the movie) without having to pay too much. Quote
Strontium Dog Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 It's a nice set, but hard for me to justify a £50 outlay when the K'nex Yellow Submarine was widely available for £10 so recently. Quote
