BrickMartin Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Hi Guys, Just wanted share my Classic TV Series Batcave MOD. After buying the set I felt it lacked a few finishing touches. These have been well documented in various reviews of the set. The main thing i wanted to to was make the outside feel like a complete Wayne Manor and the inside more 'cave' like I went on ebay and bought the 'Wayne Manor' section that was on sale split from the set. There are lots of these for sale, i picked mine up for about £25.00 and this had the majority of parts needed to cover the middle section. Plus i now have a second Wayne Manor study to use as a mini vignette. anyway let me know what you think, my plan is to change the hinges holding the middle roof section on to dark bluish grey and build up more cave to improve the aesthetics above the atomic pile. Ashnflash Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Brilliant idea! I think the Wayne Manor part was lacking throughout the rest of the set. Quote
retrotaco Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 The Wayne Manor section is popping up for only £25.00?? I may have to snag a few over the next few months, I'd love to be able to make a real nice and big 'manor' section, and if people are getting rid of them and keeping the Batcave, even better. The MOD looks great! Quote
fordtruckin Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Great idea. Looks way better with this mod Quote
Tech Artist Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Why is it these mods are so much better than the current Batcave? I am just disappointed with what Lego came up with. It just feels so unconnected and lacking detail(though the Batmobile is pretty cool). I like how this mod connects everything together and adds in much needed detail ecpesially along the plate below Wayne's office where it is mostly plain in the original set. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 As someone who defended the original set, I have to say this is a huge improvement and something I might do whenever I get this set. Still going to add TV cameras and lights to make it more like a TV set though. Quote
r5-j2 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 What a big, big difference..it looks so much better! Quote
Kizmoz Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Brilliant mod, I just completed building mine and found it surprisingly satisfying to build with a better appreciation than what I had when it was first announced, however still agree it lacks a lil something... The original design is more than it appears and I guess they had to simplify it a bit to keep the cost down which does make it look a lil bare in places... If that's what you did with an additional Manor section then I'm tempted to go do the same as that looks great :D I also feel they should've included Batgirl in the set or as the polybag instead of Freeze, a purple/yellow version would've been great to have and there's too many Bat vehicles and not enough "Bats" to drive them all :p Quote
Borex Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 That is a good MOD. You made it a lot better. More cohesive and more a piece for display. Quote
Joschmidt33 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 My god, man, this is a great mod. Like poster above said, I appreciate the build more after getting it but this is MUCH cooler Quote
BrickMartin Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 Thanks for the comments everybody. It looks as though sellers on eBay have upped the price since the set came out, that might be due to the demand in that part of set. Some people may only want the Wayne manor section and the minifigs I might have been very lucky with the £25.00, something worth keeping an eye on. I still think the set is great and the overall build is very unique. If you have this set its definitely got a lot of options to modify. I really want to those poles working better Quote
Tech Artist Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I have a small question about this though that doesn't make sense to me. I'm not knocking anything about this just a small continuity issue. Shouldn't the Batcave be below Wayne Manor and not inside it? Quote

I still think the set is great and the overall build is very unique. Without a doubt you were lucky. I just checked, and it's a little more than that. The mod looks great. I haven't even picked up the set yet, but I'm going to keep my eye on a "second" Wayne Manor, so I can do something similar. Quote

Shouldn't the Batcave be below Wayne Manor and not inside it? Yes it should be below but I guess the designers were trying to show off both parts with keeping the brick count lower. Though I personally feel that they really just built the whole set around the fire pole function. Quote

Though I personally feel that they really just built the whole set around the fire pole function. My thoughts exactly. The fire poles dictated the style of the set. My MOD probably does appear as though the atomic pile is inside Wayne manor but to put it below etc would have taken so many parts. Maybe another time ha ha. Without a doubt you were lucky. I just checked, and it's a little more than that. The mod looks great. I haven't even picked up the set yet, but I'm going to keep my eye on a "second" Wayne Manor, so I can do something similar. I think the price will go down once the hype goes away. You'll get a lot of sellers wanting rid of all the unwanted parts once the Mingus have been snapped up Quote

You'll get a lot of sellers wanting rid of all the unwanted parts once the Mingus have been snapped up I'm hoping that will be the case. I would definitely like to pick up the main part of Wayne Manor to do a mod similar to yours. It definitely turned out great. Now just to save up for the exorbitant cost of the Batcave set... Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 OH, that looks so much better than the original model, I love what you've done. Quote
Captain Britain Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Now this is cool! I love the Batcave set but what you've done certainly finishes it off. I quite like the darkness it gives when you cover up the back of the atomic pile etc. Would certainly love to give this a go.. thanks for sharing :) Quote
