Chuck Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I have been noticing an increasing number of MOC contests and challenges recently, and I think it would be bennoficial to have its own subforum located in the MOC forum. Any thoughts on this? -Chuck
Hinckley Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 IMO, they belong in the forum of the theme they pertain to.
Vader Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 How to deal with all these mocs/contests are currently being discussed.
ExoBuilder Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I agree with Chuck, there's been alot lately.
Doctor Sinister Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I humbly agree that there could be a separate area for competitions etc. as it's hard to keep track of them all at the moment. But as *vader* says, it's being discussed, so I guess we'll wait to see if anything happens. *y* Dr. S.
SirNadroj Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Hinckley AND Chuck both have good points... 8-|
Siegfried Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I don't see any need for this. Doesn't pinning achieve the same goal? Adding additional subforums will cause confusion and make browsing harder. But since you generally steer clear of contests I suspect what you want is for it to be localised to one location to make it easier for you to avoid them. :-P Or am I wrong?
LuxorV Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I really don't understand your point 8-| . If you talk about creating a forum where to discuss the opportunity of making contests, I don't feel a need for it. As long as I've seen, when somebody wants to start a competition, he/she posts a new topic in the section concerned. If the idea or the moment are not accepted, the contest is cancelled or posposed. If you just want a subforum with the complete list of on-going contests, you can simply refer to imperialshadows sign, the Big Billboard o' Doom X-D *y* LuxorV
Opproperaar Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) What annoys me when I'm checking the progress on a couple of contests which are being held at the same time (obviously) is that I have to switch forums constantly. For example, when I'd like to see if there's anything new in the Pirate Halloween contest and the Eurobricks neighbourhood contest I'd have to switch between the Lego Pirates forum and the LEGO trains and town forum. Obviously, when you get a lot of contests, like let's say right now, there are about five or so, I lost count *wacko* , it (at least on my behalf) gets annoying to be switching constantly. So yes, in that respect, I'd like a new forum for all the contests of past and present to be stored in, The Eurobricks contest forum or something. In this forum everybody could go to take a look at all the present contests and take a look at those contests already expired for the sheer fun of it. It might make things easier, no? that's just my view on the matter. :-$ Edited October 30, 2007 by Hairy Ruben
Sir Dillon Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 What annoys me when I'm checking the progress on a couple of contests which are being held at the same time (obviously) is that I have to switch forums constantly. Actually, there's a neat feature at the top of the page that says 'view new posts', which will show you all new posts from all the forums. :-)
Siegfried Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Actually, there's a neat feature at the top of the page that says 'view new posts', which will show you all new posts from all the forums. :-) That's what I use. I rarely browse the sub-forums. I tend to use the search function more if I am trying to find an old topic.
TheFrisian Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Perhaps something to take into consideration as well, is that not every contest is theme specific. Take the Hinckley vs. Sinner Smackdown for instance, in which the contestants used parts from sets from four different themes. In light of that, a seperate contest forum may nog be such a bad idea after all.

xwingyoda Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Ok guys, we have set up some rules for the competitions here !! So I'll close this thread ;-) *yoda*
