ACPin Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Microscale build of the three large pyramids built for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. "Build what inspires you!" The new 1x1 quad convex pyramid piece from the Chaos Catapult started this MOC design. Did a little research on the web for the pyramid complex to get a better idea of the placements as I've vaguely remembered from college that one of the three wasn't exactly aligned as the other two.... Boettner Builds Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I love it! It's too bad that LEGO hasn't make those top slopes in tan or dark tan...yet. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Very nice microscale rendering of the area, even with the original capstones! I too am amazed that the light tan color is not available for the corner parts. Quote
Trance89 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Nice build! as I've vaguely remembered from college that one of the three wasn't exactly aligned as the other two.... True. The tips of the pyramids, however, are in fact perfectly aligned with 3 stars of the Orion Belt. Those tips are missing nowadays and they might have been made of gold or some transparent crystal. Another interesting thing is that the pyramids (except for the tip) where probably covered in white lime stone which made them smooth. Yes, I really love the history of ancient Egypt (and ancient Greece), so you built what inspires me. Edited January 9, 2016 by Trance89 Quote
