badbob001 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) For the cloth skirts that are mostly common in the CMF line, there aren't any clear instructions on how to put them on but I had been putting in on so that the split is at the back. My idea was to keep the split hidden and this orientation may allow for more leg movement. In the S8 instructions, it does look like the fairy's skirt has the split at the back. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6008293.pdf But with the newest S14 line, it finally has step-by-step instructions for the skirt (wish I had that for the one-piece nightmare that is the S2 vampire cape). And in those instructions, it has the split at the front-left side when facing the minifigure. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6106277.pdf So is there a commonly accepted method to put on the skirt or does it vary depending on the minifigure? Legocity2713 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm sure it varies in Lego's eyes, but when I put on the skirts on my figures I enjoy making it so that it looks seamless from the front and I can see the 2 flaps split evenly between the legs from the back. I hate the way the CMF 14 instructions says to put it on, because you can still see the flap on the side/front. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Depends on the kind of skirt you want your fig to be wearing. If it is a zipper in the back type then have the split in the back. If it is a wrap around skirt or have a slit for the leg, then side. Quote
L@go Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I've always quite simply had the minifigures' well-being in mind, and it seems to me they will probably be less unhappy with having the split at the back, so their (imaginary) bum is on display, than at the front, so their (imaginary) private parts are showing. That's how considerate I am! Quote

Minifigure's behinds have never been very attractive, with the huge "pores" and the lack of printing, so I suppose you have a point. :) Depends on the kind of skirt you want your fig to be wearing. It really depends on the type of skirt and basically if you want the minifigure to show some leg. But when I think about them having a split that goes all the way up to the waist, it seems a bit too risque, especially for the ones that only have underwear underneath. The S14 witch does have some nice stockings to show off, but not really my first choice for more exposed legs. Quote
MAB Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I tend not to use them, replacing them with either a different pair of legs or with a slope for a skirt / dress. Quote
