Skafte Posted October 3, 2010 I needed something to do while my son took a nap, so I put an old MOC in the beautiful autumn light and took a few pics. I haven't seen this technique anywhere before. The crate: I chose to make it in tan, but of course it works in many colours, as you can see at the bottom of this post. Dark tan would look even better, but I'm missing tiles in that colour. Lid off: As you can see, you can't actually put anything inside, it's filled with bricks to keep the sides on. The new 1x1 brick with stud on one side would work even better, though. Further disassembled: I really like the shadow on this pic... All taken apart: Here you have a good overview of the 35 pieces needed for a 4x6 crate. All in tan, but many of them are of course not seen. Older pic for size: "Is zat big enough vor ze ark?" "Ja, I zink zo. Wot a greet kamoflage" "We are not in ze desert" "Oh bugger" In other colours and sizes: The new 1x3 tiles would of course be great for even more sizes... Thanks for looking, I hope you like it! prateek Posted October 3, 2010 Very cool! Too bad it's only style over functionality.

Big Cam Posted October 7, 2010 Now that is awesome, completely reminds me of the crates in the big old room in the Indiana Jones movie. Great job, it really looks perfect, now if you could only put stuff in it.
Masked Builder Posted October 7, 2010 Simple yet very effective! Great job!

Admiral Ron Posted October 8, 2010 Clever design, Now that we know how to make such a good crate, we can all work together together to make it so we can put stuff inside!
Skafte Posted October 12, 2010 The larger sizes can be used for actual storage! The tan 6x6 in the bottom pic held all my chrome gold coins until I dismantled it. In that one there were only interior structures in the four corners - 1x1 bricks with or without studs on the sides. Thanks for all the kind words!
AMK152 Posted October 14, 2010 WOW! Those are very nice!

Boettner Builds Posted January 21, 2016 This crate is PERFECT! I'm going to have to politely steal this and add a little something! :)
Capn Frank Posted January 22, 2016 Very smart design! Please don't bump old topics for simple, one-sentence comment. You should read this post on bumping topics, which is linked in the Site Guidelines.
Boettner Builds Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) So I modded the crate. Now you can put stuff in it! It reduced the part count to 28 and the LBG brackets don't come in tan Edited January 22, 2016 by redtrooper27
Peppermint_M Posted January 22, 2016 The difference five years makes to available parts! This design is still great and now that it is functional there are even more possibilities. Certainly borrowing that for my Adventurers!
KlodsBrik Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) So I modded the crate. Now you can put stuff in it! It reduced the part count to 28 and the LBG brackets don't come in tan Im always careful as to when bumping a topic, but so many that ive seen i really wanted to write great job, and so on but didnt ( mostly i look at when the user was last active ). But mostly i restrain myself as i do see the problems, though i really like to get feedback myself. But this shows why sometimes good things can come out of it. Old useful builds updated to be even more useful. Aint LEGO just a wonderful toy ! Edited January 22, 2016 by KlodsBrik
mechamike Posted January 25, 2016 Thank for shareing this with us.. Its fun to see how new parts really make some things less parts consuming.
